Hello, It seems that every time I update DirectX to version 9.0c, there are problems with 3D Movie playback. Specifically, instead of the Interlaced view, it displays a left & right side by side image. When using Direct X games or Open GL games, everything is fine. But, whenever I play a dvd in stereoscopic player the problem occurs. The only solution I have found is to revert to an older version of direct x (like 9.0) and re-install the Nvidia drivers & stereo drivers. Is there an easier way around this issue? |

Stereoscopic Player is designed for DirectX9.0c, so there should be no problems. For interlaced view, you do not need the stereo driver at all (at least for movies) because Stereoscopic Player offers an interlaced mode which works without stereo driver, but requires DirectX 9. Its performance is far superiour to the stereo driver implementation. |

Thanks for your help. However, I was apparently mistaken about the viewing method. The source material is interlaced, but the Nvidia Stereo driver must use page flipping? I'm using LCD shutter glasses for the viewing method. It appears to be the only mode which activates the glasses, when viewed in full-screen mode. |

Followup - I was able to reinstall DirectX 9.0c without having this problem. :-) Although, it has happened a few times before, so I will be paying CLOSE attention to what I install that might cause this issue. If I can find the true culprit, I will post it here. Interesting enough, when I did have the problem, removing and re-installing Direct X and the Nvidia drivers was the only way I was able to solve it. Thanks again for your help. |

My experience with DirectX and NVIDIA stereo driver is that the stereo driver is the critical component. There are lots of possible pitfalls: - Graphics and stereo driver version must match - The stereo driver must be enabled manually - It sometimes doesn't work after computer was in standby mode - It doesn't work on Quadro cards (at least when quadbuffered OpenGL is enabled, but some customers reported that they can't make it work at all) If you glasses can be enabled manually, you can also use Stereoscopic Player's soft-pageflipping mode, which only requires DirectX 9 but no stereo driver. Only drawback: there's a chance of 50% percent that the image will be pseudostereo (left/right reversed). In such case, press F7 (swaps left/right). |
