So I'm trying to help my idiot buddy who bought some 3d glasses off ebay and hasn't a clue how to set it up. It didn't come with a sync and I think it requires a specific nvidia card which he does not had.

He bought this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=120342913815

It has an infrared din 3 cable for sync but he has no din 3 plug on his video card.

I can't even tell who made it and he claims it doesn't say on the glasses. Is there a homebrew that would work or something to buy? He's hampered even less by things because he can only fit the low profile cards in his computer.

He does not need a specific card to make the connection but a dongle like X3D or Edimensional or this new one:

These connect to the VGA of the computer and the din cable would connect to the dongle. But depending on what he wants to do that just brings up more questions. If he wants to watch movies he would need software like Stereoscopic Player. He most likely would need a CRT monitor or DLP projector because LCDs do not work. It can get complicated so it would be helpful to know exactly what he wants to do and what his computer specs are.

That item looks out of production, will any of the homebrews from this site work?

He wanted to use it with microsoft flight sim, I already informed him that he needs a CRT monitor. So I don't know if he's willing to put more money into this thing.
