Wondering if anyone has a solution for this one...lots of discussion on the web but no luck with finding a resolution. I had a nvidia 6600 video card that has been working find in my Dell....I connect a DVI-HDMI cable between the PC and the DLP TV. For audio, I use an analog 3.5mm jack that is split into RCA cables (L/R) going to the INPUT audio that should take over for the HDMI cable, since I only need video going through the HDMI. 6600 doesn't support bluray playback, so I upgraded to an 8400 GS card....but with the same hookup above, NO AUDIO...i guess the new video card is trying to send audio through the HDMI cable, so the TV listens to the HDMI cable instead of the RCA jacks. Sound STILL comes out of the PC jack I am using for the connection...so the problem is either the driver or the card itself (not to mention that I can't force the TV listen to the RCA cables via some setting somewhere.) I uninstalled the 8400, put the old 6600 back in with the old driver and my sound came back. I tried several fixes that accomplished nothing, including the latest drivers, and nvidia's own hotfix file that fixed nothing. The latest driver installs an option under "change resolution" that allows you to disable the audio (I assume this audio setting is under change resolution because nvidia had to stick it somewhere and hadn't planned this out too well), but that didn't do anything either. It seems nvidia knows about this problem, but hasn't really come up with a fix that works (at least not for everyone). The TV won't let me select which audio source it wants to listen to, so that's not an option. Since audio is still coming out of the PC jacks, I COULD use a receiver instead, but I'd prefer not to. Anyone know if there is a fast video card out there that plays blurays and will NOT try to pass audio through the HDMI cable???? Or a fix for the 8400GS card? I took it back already, but I'd buy it again if I could figure this out. |
