Here's my dilemma, I upgraded my video card from a Voodoo3 to a Voodoo4. ( my glasses are i-art 4-1)All my games work great in stereo except NFS( it did work with the V3). I was pretty bummed. I subsequent and inadvertently downloaded a virus. Whilst trying to get my system back up and running I reloaded Windows, directX, and my video drivers. Viola!!! NFS started working in stereo. Unfortunately many other programs wouldn't work so I did a disc format and a complete clean install of my software. Guess what... NFS won't go into stereo again. Ideas anyone? Kenny this ones got your name written all over it...lol John |

Hi v4 owner, here is the solution ! What i did in the case of need for speed 5 was to change the api used by the game from glide to dx and the game is fine now! In the eye 3d manual (if im not mistaken) they say that the drivers are not very compatible with glide 3, and in that case the solution is to change to another api. The problem may not appear in older games using older glide drivers. To make nfs 5 use dx you have to edit the registry. be careful ! Using regedit, open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE, ELECTRONIC ARTS.Click on "NEED FOR SPEED" - PORSCHE 2000 (OR SIMILAR). On the right, choose "trash driver", click it with the right mouse button, choose modify, change whatever is there to "dx". Click on OK and close regedit. The game should work now. To see if the game is using glide or dx, in the game, when you choose resolution, it shows the number of colours available for each resolution. If the number of colours for all resolutions available is always 16 (16 bit colours), then the game is using glide. I had the same problem with le mans 24 hours. Then i entered the game and in the options i changed from glide to the other one (primary display card, or something like that, i dont remember quite well). The game is working fine in all stereo modes now. One thing that i noticed is that in both nfs 5 and le mans, there are times when the screen goes darker for no apparent reason, and then enlightens again. This DIDNT happen before i bought the 3d glasses. Changing from glide to dx may be the solution to a lot of problematic games. My nfs 3 is working perfectly from the beggining, i havent tested nfs 4 yet. I have received the 3d glasses just a few days ago, and am beggining to test all my games. I noticed a problem with open gl games, and as im using wicked 3d drivers, i am thinking about installing wicked gl, also... Another very important thing, if you are using v4 or v5 cards, at least for me the best setting is 2x anti-aliasing, and one chip only works well. Dont use 4x AA, for me this setting is problematic, strange lines and junk appears in stereo modes. Also, dont use fastest mode, it works, but is extremelly slow in stereo modes (dont ask me why !). |
