I've recently got a brand new JVC GR-DV1800 videocamera but I suspect it is not compatible with my NUVIEW. When I connect everything the LCD monitor of the videocamera displays a strong flickering and displaced image (typical in stereo I think) of anything I shoot but after ten seconds (aprox.) the image stops flickering and the LCD monitor displays what I shoot only with the typical displacement of stereo recordings but no flickering. I am afraid the CCD of my camera corrects what the Nuview does. Can anybody tell me if this is definitively true? |

It sounds imposible. Did you try to play the rocord in stereo or did you try to record some test images (red area before right NuViw part, green before the left) ? |

Well, I've read this in the Nuview review from Christoph Bungert, anybody can tell me something about it, i am afraid, very afraid: "Ross Cutler gave me an interesting hint He was also concerned about the time-lag problem and came across the new Canon Optura miniDV consumer camcorder which uses a progressive scan CCD. The camcorder plays to the rules of the current TV-systems by recording 50/60 half-frames a second, but it seems to scan the two half-frames (which represent one full-frame) at the same fraction of time, thus eliminating the usual time-gap between half-frames. Sounds like an advantage at first, but may render the camera useless for Nu-View. If the image pick-up frequency on the CCD is different from the frequency on the video-out port of the camcorder, the Nu-View won't work! Therefore incompatibilities between certain digital camcorders and the Nu-View are conceivable, but not confirmed yet. Ross already pointed out that, in theory, a passive optical beam-splitter should (must) be used for progressive scan cams. Such a solution would require additional complex hardware on the playback side. " |
