I have a PIII 1GHz, ATI Rage pro graphics card and 256MB RAM. Quite a fast machine.

But, I get very poor frame rate (2 F/S) when viewing videos in Anaglyph format. Is this normal?

Interlaced and page flipping isn't that much better.

Are there any tips on how I may increase the speed?

Mart,
where have you got anaglyph videos?
What compression do they use?
At what size do you play them? Full screen? What's your resolution setting?
Are you playing them in MP or QT or maybe are you generating them in real-time using some other stereo-formatted material?
Giorgio.

Sorry for the lack of detail in my first post!
I use :
Michal Husak's Stereovideo player
The latest Win3D drivers

Resolutions: 680x480, 800x600 FULL SCREEN, performance slows as the resolution gets higher, as one would expect.

Video source: Above/Below format (Converted from original NuView source)

Codec: MPEG 2

Anaglyph format is selected via Win3D settings, I select this owing to the fact that I do not yet own a pair of shutter glasses!

Giorgio, What's MP /QT?

Regard
Mart

Mart:

The main reason of the problems is the mpeg2
codec. The Ligios one is not very well implemented
with the Direct Show technology ...
Try to use DIVIX 4.0 or mpeg1 + use 16 bit color res for playback ...
Try differnt performace setting in the panel ...

Sorry Mart,
I meant MediaPlayer and QuickTime; I thought you were playing a video alraedy encoded to anaglyph stereo format.
You can try this one: ecode your video to anaglyph (you will need to use a low-compression encoder, try MJEPG or DIVX with low-compression settings) and then play it in MP or QT; frame rate should be higher (no need for real-time conversion to anaglyph).
Giorgio.

Michal,

I tried encoding the material in MPEG 1 and all I get is a blank screen on playback through your player. The MPEG1 material plays OK with MediaPlayer.

What is DIVX? I am using Ulead MediaStudio Pro 6 for my video conversion etc. There are many different types of compression but I don't see DIVX as a CODEC.

Try a websearch for DIVX codec, it's a MPEG-4 based codec.
I've downloaded it from the Internet last year.
You have to install it to see it within your software.
Giorgio.

No it doesn't.

But if I encode AVI in MEPG-4 the stereoplayer works.

Further to my last post...

MPEG-4 encoded material does work yet it is still slow (2fps) in anaglyph output. Page flipping and line blank is probably around 15fps at 680x480res.

Perhaps I haven't got software installed correctly?

In Zeiten von massenhaft Websitenmüll im Internet eine sehr gut aufgebaute Website, nicht überdimensioniertes Design und sehr gut recher-schierte Hintergrundinformationen.
