We're producing 3D Stereo films using 3DSMax and we save great looking nearly ghost free still images in TGA and even in JPEG.

Our problem starts when we try to make a movie out of them. We can't find a way to not to ruin everything when joining the files, due to the compression. And of course, we have to use some kind of compression...

When the images are compressed by the video codec, the even lines get a bit of the colour of the next odd lines and vice-versa.

We used DIVX, but it doesn't come out right.

Any one knows of a codec that is adequate for 3DStereo?????

Deus,
there are different codec adequate for stereo imaging but I need to know what stereo format you're using (interlaced, anaglyph, above-below ...).
Giorgio.

Only following compresion correctly handele interaced stereoscopic lines:
MJPEG (with interlaced mode on)
DV compression
MPEG2 in non-progesive mode

DV compresion works usualy only with Direct Show
compatible software
MJPEG works with both Video for Windows
and Direct Show based software.
Some free MJPEG codecs could be found on the net.
I use MainActor MJPEG codec for my experiment with IMAX DVD mpeg2 -> MJPEG AVI -> above/below MPEG4
stereoscopic procesing.

Michal,
would you mind giving us the exact link for the MJPEG codec you successfully used?
I can't find an "interlace mode on" flag in my MJPEG codecs.
Is it free?
If it isn't where can I find a free MJPEG codec featuring "interlace mode on" flag?
Thanks a lot for support.
Giorgio.
