MY POLARISED GLASSES 3d TV DESIGN. I was thinking of 3D TV being transmitted in over and under format probably on free to air dedicated digital 3d TV channels. That way flickerless 3d would be possible as both left and right stereo images appear on both odd and even fields of composite TV signals. For the receiver I was thinking of colour CRT with pairs of Red Blue and Green electron guns. That is two sets of gun assemblies one for the left image and one for the right image and the front mask of the tube with groups of Red Blue and Green phosphors that have embedded in the glass polarisers so the left image is polarised one way and the right image polarised the other. So Polarised glasses can be used. Electronics would split half of each fields lines in to a signal for the left image electron gun assembly and the other half of the field lines into the signal to drive the right image electron gun assembly. I wonder if this would be cheaper than the autosterescopic LCD monitors as LCD standard PC monitors are much more expensive than CRT based ones. Over /Under video output from your computer's TV out could be seen on the "3d TV" Or 3d dvd's could be home made in Over/Under format. Even a 100/120Hz 3d TV of this type wouldn't kill the 3d effect. MY LCD GLASSES 3d TV DESIGN Instead I guess it'd be better if they upgraded the tv's sync circuits to enable it to be switched by the remote control into sync doubling mode like pc monitors using above below video as input and by convention it'd be nearly always be in the correct 3d viewing mode unlike interlaced. And of course view with LCD glasses. They could do all their fancy scans but simply double vertical refresh rate I think. It'd make more money for share holders if you had to buy a new TV to view an above/below format TV station transmissions. which are still compatible with PAL and NTSC. MY ANAGLYPH GLASSES 3d TV DESIGN What is needed is a above/below format video source and a vertical sync doubling TV that for Red/Cyan anaglyph version when scanning the left ( squashed above ) image switches off the blue and green electron guns and when scanning the right ( squashed below ) image switches off the red electron gun. Blue and Green electron guns together make up a Cyan color. For full color Colorcode3d yellow(amber)/Blue anaglyph version when scanning the left ( squashed above ) image switches off the blue electron gun and Red and Blue guns together make up a yellow (amber) image and when scanning the right ( squashed below ) image switch off the Red and Green electron guns. Blue electron gun left on Have the TV remote control select between Red/Cyan anaglyph or Yellow/Blue anaglyph viewing glasses mode. The squashed images when vertical sync doubled overlap at double height full screen anaglyph images |
