Can projectors for home theater systems be used for portable movie projectors?

I'm not shure if I understand the question.

The image you linked shows a 3-tube projector. Such projectors usully require heavy calibration work after moving. So they are not an alternative to portable LCD-, DLP- or D-ILA-projectors.

The 3 tubes produce 3 images in red, green, blue.

The tubes must be calibrated to generate 3 images which are exactly the same in terms of width, height, horizontal position, vertical position, trapez, pillow...
Then the 3 images must be exctly overlayed to produce a color image without color borders or other artefacts.
There are tube projectors with some kind of auto-calibration, but I don't know how well this works.

Hi Tyler,

Regarding the 3D home theater, it need long range IR system is better, because the IR transmitter have view angle problems.
If you need to know this kind of information, please let me know. I'll send to you by e-mail.

You can't use the protable LCD projector, because the refresh rate can't reach to 120Hz, it'll hvae the flicker problem. We've tested the DLP projector, it's seems good than LCD projector, but have some technical problems must be checked it out.

thanks

Searching the web for usefull Projectors it was hard to find information about
the max V-Range @ 1024x768 Resolution.(100-120 Hz is needed)
My question is:

Do anybody know a good LCD or DLP projector with XGA Resolution and 800-1200 ANSI
which is able to produce a stereoscopic XGA picture at 100-120 Hz ?
Price should be less 7000 $...

Thank U & greetings from Berlin, Germany

David
