Hi everyone, I am about to purchase the Nu-View SX-2000 Stereo 3-D Camcorder Adapter and had a few questions for the 3-D pros. 1. Out of all the camcorders out there which would work best? 2. Would a digital camcorder with a progressive scan CCD be compatible? 3. Is digital stereo 3-D editing possible? If not, how would I edit video tapes? Thanks. |

1) It is nessesery to try ! The main reason is that for some zoom setting, you will see part of the NuView in the picture. On My Sony TRV 310 about 20% of the zoom (wide picture range area) is for no use becoue the NuView attachments part are visibe in the picture. Digital recording in Digital8 or miniDV is highly reomanded. 2) The key is intelaced storage of frames. I do not know any camera not supporting this mode. Maybe some very rare progresive scan mode could harm the stereoscopic storage - but it is not a common case. 3) Yes it is and works perfect. The best method of editing is an full digital one of DV coded AVI file in Premiere 6.0 or Ulead MSP ... The key for this sort of editing is: a) Using non-deinterlacing storage formats (MJPEG,DV or mpeg2). NO DIVIX, MPEG4 e.t.c. !!! b) Switching off all deinterlacing options in the program ... I use to turn the Nu-View interlaced digitalized video to side-by-side format using VirtualDub. Than you can edit it using the compression method you like and finally you can encode it to the stereo format you prefer. Giorgio. |

I use the Sony TRV120 Digital 8 camcorder and have similar results as Michal. Progressive scan will not work with the Nu-view (So I hear) I use Ulead MSP for editing, I find it perfect for editing DV Stereoscopic video A camcorder with a lens filter ring of 37mm is best, since this is what the Nu-view was originally designed for. The larger the lens the smaller the viewable picture area. |
