Anyone seen this dvd yet? If so, what is the quality of the red/green glasses 3D illusion? |

On the plus side, the red/blue anaglyph 3-D works better on DVD than VHS, beta, or even broadcast television, BUT... there's still "ghosting", plus the disc was encoded in color anaglyph, which tries to preserve the original color. So now a "blue sky" looks black through the red filter, ..but looks white through the blue filter. B&W red/blue anaglyph would have been a better choice, IMO. Then there's the discontinued field-sequential version of Comin At Ya from the VHD videodisc and the discontinued S-VHS / VHS releases from 3DTV Corporation. Needless to say it was the superior 3-D video version.... |

I bought it about a year ago together with 'The bubble' from Rhino, hoping to convert it to interlaced or pageflipped stereo on my PC. But as GregK states this is effectivly inhibited by the 'color anaglyph'. During the discussion on this board about the conversion, i've made some samples for MH, which are still on my webserver (http://home.t-online.de/home/mmartin/anaglyph). In General Heavy Ghosting and this 'blue' faults vary from scene to scene. Also some parallax out of the screen effects add to the eyestrain. |
