What specific games are good to play with a HMD that has a head motion tracker? Games that are easy to set up and the motion tracking works well?

Falcon 4.0 has the capability to receive head-tracking data via a "memory mapped file". I've used this by writing a small C++ program to run in the background. I'm building a mechanical head-tracker using potentiometers connected to an old joy-stick's circuit board.

FS200 even has native support for the 'ole VFX1, and it worked flawlessly! I was never much of a Flight simmer, but I spent a good ammopunt of time in FS2000 just for that reason.
Also, like Maart said, any "mouse look" game is perfect for head tracking, but I think that stereo 3D is an important part of the imersion factor too, so games like HL, Q1, Unreal, Nascar4 and others are a real treat to play....
Actually, I'll never forget when I first played Q1 in my 'ole VFX1, it was truly a awe inspiring expirience....

Bricklayer,

How do you like your creation, does it work well, any other insite you can offer me for this tracker. I am currently trying to do the same thing with a Visette HMD that I just bought and would like to hear more about your improvised tracking solution.

Thanks

Glen

I think MechWarrior 4 would be a good candidate too as it allow free look using a mouse. Also 3D stereo do work in mechwarrior 4.

te TrackIR will not work well with a hmd. you cannot turn all the way around. the tracker works best with a big monitor

How could i have forgotten Mech Warrior!
MW is pretty much the perfect game for an HMD set up!
As we know all FPS'es suffer from the head "glued" tp the shoulder syndrome :)
IN MW you can actually turn your "head" and still go in the same direction, like in real life...

Maart: I just got an Intertrax2 and want to set it up with X-wing alliance. What is the procedure? Can I use my joystick as well?

shure, its possible to get mouse emulation and switch the y-axis with the windows version of intertrax software. then start x-wing alliance.

I have the intertrax not the intertrax2 I don't know if it works the same but the people at i-sense should be able to help you otherwise. (I have to connect a serial mouse to the intertrax to get mouse emulation.)

now the intertrax makes it possible to look around and the joystick will work for the flying.

good luck (contact me trough e-mail if you're still having problems)

Incase anyone is still reading this the game the second to last post was talking about is Trespasser. It was acctually really cool for the time with physics and an arm you controled. I'd say its looking awfully dated now - had to have come out in '98-'99
