Just copied from another topic ********** By Gab on Saturday, November 16, 2002 - 08:56 pm: I got E-D this week and rather disappointed by the ghosting. Not sure if this is the product, or the shutter technology itself. My expectations were high after reading the praising reviews, but I found very little joy and usability in them so far... My refresh and fps are good (100Hz, usually 25-40 fps @1024*768) GF4 Ti200 128 MB, TB 1.3 Ghz LG 900B monitor Gab By nickyj on Saturday, November 16, 2002 - 11:22 pm: decrease the separation and increase the gamma. at 100 hz you shouldn't have any problem or you might just not be able to use this technology in general. i would post this as a separate topic also By Gab on Sunday, November 17, 2002 - 08:50 pm: I tried almost all settings. It`s not the separation, it is there with 10% and 100% as well, only the ghost position changes according to the setting. If I increase the gamma to washed-out levels, the ghosting is not visible that much of course, but the overall image suffers greatly. I can feel the 3d effect, so the lens are working, but I found it un-usable in high contrast environments. Very difficult to focus at contrast borders, even at lower separation because of the double vision. Tried 70-120 Hz, effect is the same... Gab |

What games are you using? Like you said"but I found it un-usable in high contrast environments". That's how it is. Ghosting can be very bad in few games. And on the other hand it can be almost none in other games(Ghost Recon). It's a combination of your monitor and the glasses. Personally I think it's the monitor which is the weakest link. Bye. |

For what I understood ghosting is caused by persistance of phosphores on the monitor surface(in short ... it can flip the image 100 times in a second but displaying a frame, there is a charged residual image of the previous "vanishing" frame). With a low-cost monitor you can play with a couple of 600$ glasses and see horribles ghosting. Personally ... my favorite game is I-War2 (Edge of Chaos) and is nearly unplayable with 3d glasses :-( GiofX PS: sorry for my super-technical engligh :D |
