Hi, what software can be use to add animation to a 3D movie captured (having the movies from both "eyes" separated). The idea is to add virtual stuff that can be part of a 3d movie thanks |

Now, that would be fun! You will have to create your 3D graphics in a program of your choice, rendered out to a left-right stereo pair (I don't, so can't recommend what)... then: Putting it all together sounds like an Adobe After Effects project, to me :-)... but AFX ain't cheap. (but cheap, compared to some :-) AFX has a Photoshop style GUI... you slap all your *stuff* into a composition window, sort it all out on the timeline, then render it. Rendering can be slow, but this is a *professional* compositing program, so that is to be expected... I use it for aligning and manipulating stereo pairs (video). It has guidelines (just like PS), and you can easily rotate, resize, etc... many functions are done just by dragging a corner or point. I can't imagine any program being *better* at this than AFX. Mixing media is a breeze, too, including video, as you can open the video as "field separated" and work on it. I am only using the bare basics of this program... I am sure it is capable of much more than I will ever use it for :-) P. K. Kid 3D Adventures Of The Puppet Kite Kid: (All G-Rated) http://www.PuppetKites.net |

Consider Animation Master from http://www.hash.com It has stereo rendering in parallel format up to extremely high resolutions with adjustable stereo base for 3d models and text, with full camera motion control no demo available though. |

Easy. Take this one eye at a time. 1. Blue out the part of the movie you want to mix with the animation. 2. Add the animation in. 3. If you want to do this in real time, use a Video Toaster Card. 4. Do the same on the other eye. |

One question, The procedure you are mention (BOPrey) seems not so difficult, but how do you control that the animation mixed will be correctly in 3D after you merge (side by side, interleaced, etc.) the video to be seen in 3d? Thanks |

If you want to mix a live video clip with an animation you usually have to do a camera-tracking procedure (taking control over 6 points' co-ordinates) ... well, in stereo you have to do it twice in the same way! Giorgio. |
