Slingshot Entertainment are listing SOS Planet IMAX 3d DVD as coming out soon. Most of their other new ones are 2d to 3d conversions. See http://www.slingshotent.com 3d section |

I could not find any 2d to 3d conversions on their site. All their 3D DVDs were originally released in 3D. |

According to the movie list on stereo3d.com you are right. I believe that Slingshot did not convert it to 3d itself, because it does not make sense to use such old and unknown movies. Does anybody know the facts? Whats the quality of these DVDs (compared to the IMAX-collection)? |

Actually Peter, it makes *perfect* sense that Slingshot would use these titles, as most are in the "public domain", so there are no copywrite restrictions on converting these titles. And with no copywrite, there's no fees to the original owners of the film, and the original owners have no say in how their original content is presented. A friend of mine bought the Slingshot converted title "Radar Men" and said the 2-D to 3-D conversion SUCKS! The whole image is basicly pushed back a little behind the stereo window. Apparently there is on brief scene where there's an explosion and Slingshot (or Razor, who do some work with Slinghot) added some true 3-D CGI effects over this one explosion scene. Personally it sickens me that Slinghot & Razor promote the converted titles as "Real 3-D". ..If someone buys one of those turds first, they may figure 3-D video is no good, and miss out on true stereoscopic filmed features, like "SOS Planet". |
