Microvision inc, who acquired the initial rights to make virtual retinal display devices from the HITL and the U of W has come out with their first model. They call the thing the spectrum. This first model is 800X600 with an adjustable focal length from 1.5' and up. It is apparently configured for a 36 degree FOV, but if I understand the technology correctly, that should be adjustable. I'm trying to get more info from them on that as well as what the huge price probably is. If anybody is familiar with the nomad, you know these people charge a premium. Especially since they have an absolute monopoly on this new tech. http://www.microvision.com/prod_spectrum.htm |

Ooh, one more thing. If you're interested in what else they want to do with this thing check out this link and the accompanying PDF. http://www.microvision.com/prod_microdisplay.htm |

Small update. The "model", more like a demonstration for development partners is selling for around a half mil. So, if anyone has alot of money to throw around they can get the ultimate display for a wearable computer. Will update more as I find out. |
