I've taken a pair of I-glasses SVGA and put them inside of a VFX1 shell. It was an idea presented to me by kudawg. It makes an awesome HMD. I like to call it the VFX2. Kevin |

In all honesty the optics should in fact melt the VFX1 shell. The i-glasses SVGA is made to heat sink with the provided metal shell. |

I mounted the I-glasses in its orginal casing inside the VFX1 shell, so no melting. Kevin P.S. I'll try to pull together some images. |

The i-glasses SVGA needs to breath. You will kill the headset shortly. |

It does get hot, so I have to admit it could shortin the life of your I-glasses. The cure to this would be to drill vent holes in the VFX1 visor (on top) to allow more ventilation. I'll give it a try. Kevin |

It will burn out the glasses. You need a 70 degree operating temp. Try dry ice and a prayer. |

That was my idea too, putting i-glasses or cy-visor into the shelf of the VFX1. Though I would disassemble the i-glasses and take the LCD elements out and mount them individually on the railing that presently holds the original VFX1 LCD's. That ought to help cooling better, since they will not be encased and perhaps if put into a metal casing it will lead away excess heat. If only we could get ahold of those flexible OLED display that are paper thin... |

Very nice Kevin, is there sufficient air flow now with the fan? I suppose the fan is not too noisy, but is there a constant breeze blowing in your face though, kinda bothersome? |

The hmd has a piece that comes down and blocks the fan from blowing in your face. It actually doesnt blow. It sucks air in and blows it out the side. It works OK. It could actually use alittle more voltage but then it would also be noiser. Not perfect but it works. -Kevin |

Someone is madd, I don't think the glasses come even close to getting hot as you think! So hook up 2 small fans to a 9 volt battery, im sure with the time to mount the glasses there is a way to mount more then 1 fan.. The way the glasses are now are just crappy, theres noway of having them comfurtable, even with a headtracker mounted to counter the weight.. They weren't designed properly.. Sorry for my spelling!!! -Kev ur all heart man! |
