The Selectrics web site indicates that they have the Sony PS2 working in stereoscopic 3D. An anonymous company has the rights to it. Is this true? Is it simply another 2D converter? If real 3D then when can I get it? Where do I get it? What's the scoop - Ken? |

Hi; Yes it is true - We have been playing the PSII 'Enter the matrix' and other games in stereoscopic 3D for some time now. The system uses Shutter glasses and is not a converted 2D technique. I Can't tell you much more than that other than the product is expected to be low cost and on the market this fall. Hope you have as much fun using it as we had making it. ========= Warm regards, Ken @ Selectrics |

Hi Ken, The PS2 is a straight video device so does your device work with any video source or does it connect with a data port in the PS2 or something. It's not giving away trade secrets to be a bit more informative. And please give your web link so we can keep an eye on your products progress. |

Ummm, I'm not sure how well that would work. One of the main problems is that televisions do not refresh fast enough. Just try watching a 3d dvd on a television and that will give you a good idea of what it will be like. Now, there is a vga cable for the ps2 (comes with the linux kit). Then you run into the ps2 hardware problem. The ps2 can only drive 85hz. So, the only truly viable solution as far as I can see would be to use a refresh doubler w/ a vga cable. Any other solution would give you a headache. As a side note, most of todays games are already pushing the ps2 to it's limits. Imagine if it had to try to render twice as many frames. |

Good points Jared; NTSC is harsh and PAL more so. The PSII and xBox are very powerful systems with plenty of horsepower. The thing about the console systems are that the games are very immersive backed by solid game play. 3D would be a bonus and add to the game experience. |

The VirtualFX I hear does a fairly good job of 2d to 3d conversion and should work with the PS2 and xbox. http://www.i-glassesstore.com/converter.html |

I have not seen this converter in action so I cannot comment on its performance. ======== Ken |
