I'm a sophmore in college, and I get a weekly allowance. Should I blow what I have on the i-glasses 2d or just save? Is it really worth the money? The reason I ask is because I do consider myself a semi-hardcore gamer; semi-hardcore because of study time. Money is tight right now, but I do enjoy spending my down time playing games. I had a virtual boy a couple of years ago and I love the effect that the total darkness has on how you focus on images on a screen. What are your experiences with the i-glasses? Is it really worth the cash? Does the field of view kill the effect? |

Save your money. Unless you have a lot of money to burn, I suggest you get something that has a very wide FOV. However, most of those HMD cost an arm and a leg. |

I have never tried shutterglasses, but they do seem to have a large user base. the reason I ask is because I am eventually going to upgrade from a 17 in. monitor. my dad just got this huge 22 in. lcd for his office at work and it just blew my mind. finally got to play unreal tournament and view a few photos in 1600x1200. freakin BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! I just need a larger monitor to play games. 17 in. doesn't give the same effect as a 22. |

Anonymous, Shutterglasses DO NOT work with LCDs. Even with CRTs, don't use a resolution with refresh rate less than 100 Hz which is minimum acceptable refresh rate for shutterglasses type 3D. With my 19' CRT, the highest resolution I can get is 1024x768 if I want to keep the refresh rate at 100Hz or above. At 1600x1200, most CRTs only gives you 72Hz of refresh rate. |

I have a few questions: 1) what is the minimum refresh rate needed for most 3d glasses to function? 2) Are there any differences between a CRT's refresh rate and a projector's refresh rate? 3) It seems that the projector of choice for under 1000 dollars is the Infocus X1. I was browsing on tigerdirect.com's website and notice quite a few projectors that can reach 100+ hz. Do any of you know of any other projectors in the 1000 dollar range that can compete with the Infocus X1? |

Answers: 1) Wrong question. They work ona ny refresh rate, the question is what your eye find as acceptable. Flicketing is usualy acceptable from 90 Hz higher .. 2) Yes. Comon DLP refresh rate is sualy fixed to 60 Hz. LCD situation is similar ... 3) The projecto accet hi refres rate as input data. Interanly they convert it to 60 Hz => none of them is for any use. |
