Please watch for info on "Deep Theater" see web site. All seats in a standard sized theater will be presented with 3-d without the need for glasses and the software is the same as currently used for 2-d presentations (including old movies).

It works for me!, another link is Google (type in deep theater (3-d without glasses) or you can use 3-d movies without glasses (deep theater)and you end up with Yahoo search. Try it again!

Pulfrich requires glasses.

It doesn't matter what they do, we already know it won't work. Says right here:

"Deep Theater's proprietary technology will show standard movies (Return of the Jedi, Lord of the Rings, Gone with the Wind) and will present them in 3-D."

...and turns water into wine and shit into gold and makes your dick longer and you can eat as much as you like and still loose weight and makes you a womanizer and it washes even whiter than before and will certainly become a valuable collectors item and you can just get it here and nowhere else and it's a limited offer and comes with a lifetime warranty and you get this extra knife for free...

I am on the same line as Christoph. It is either a joke or a scam to get investors money.

**sigh!** I wish you guys wouldnt be such die hard sceptics!
No I dont work for them..But I do work on autostereo screens, So to give these deepThreeD cinema guys the benefit of the doubt.. here's how I think their stuff would work.
Take lord 'o the Rings for example..There's shit loadsa panning going on in that movie.. So with auto stereoscreens like XThreeD's, there is bundled software that will take eight consecutive frames from such a panning shot and create a stereo view BASED ON THE PULFRICH EFFECT!
so there... NO GLASSES NEEDED :)

Now combine that with 2d to ThreeD conversion methods, and you get Artificial Intelligence created stereo for non "action" scenes from the films to fill in the blanks.
Its a little work intensive, but no more than 15days work to convert a film like Lord 'o the rings. I already do similiar stuff for TVcommercials... where you get some say kicking a soccer ball at the screen.. then you grab that piece of clip in aftereffects, rotoscope the soccer ball out, take it into software like Maya, map it onto a plane and then animate that plane for "out of screen effects". blah blah.. I could go on but you get the picture.
So here's my conclusion on how they are doing it for their auto stereo cinema screens.

Really.. im amazed and a bit put-off with you professionals here, you all seem to be stuck to the old ThreeD methods, and refuse to even investigate new terrain that is being covered.

Dont get me wrong, I KNOW that artificial and pulfrich aka time parallax isnt really "true" stereo, But you know what, after working so much in stereo actively, I believe i KNOW what impresses common people when you tell them "this is in Three Dimensional". THEY JUST WANT POP OUT stereo and Gimmiks.
if you play the pulfrich bits from movies like lord of the rings...its good enuff and even "magic" for the public,
Hey and thats the only way to convert them into discerning stereo fans...
...give them what they want, and when you've won them over with that, slowly teach them the difference between pseudo stereo and real stereo...But... only AFTER you have played by their rules..

Cheers,
Clyde

P>S. after having ranted on like that, it does get me wondering.. some DEEP-SIN-ema this is going to be! .. the biggest autostereo screen know is 50iches wide.
And i havent yet heard of autostereo or barrier screen projection screens yet.
Do let me know if there are any tho! :)

HMMMMMM,

From Christoph:

"...and turns water into wine and shit into gold and makes your dick longer and you can eat as much as you like and still loose weight and makes you a womanizer and it washes even whiter than before and will certainly become a valuable collectors item and you can just get it here and nowhere else and it's a limited offer and comes with a lifetime warranty and you get this extra knife for free... "

Well Christoph, that's ONLY true here in the USA!

But, all kidding aside, folks!
It might be possible to "pulfricht-interpret
and "lenticularize" "on the fly"???????
For any of you familiar with "Sci-Fi"
there is "slow glass" which takes varying amounts of time to allow an image to pass through.
(much LIKE the pulfricht concept!)
Also, if any of you have seen "N.A.Valyus, Stereoscopy" there WAS cinema sized Autostereoscopic projection in the former USSR
in the past (50s 60s)
Not only that , but they used the more refined "RADIAL" rasters!

Keep Thinking!
Best Wishes,
John Billingham

Here's what I got back from them--

"Thank you for your interest. Our system applies recent discoveries in
neuroscience and makes use of precision optics to communicate information that, up
until this point, has not been communicable to the visual processing centers of
the brain. That's as much as I can tell you at this time."

Sounds a little over-inflated to me.

also, clyde:
I believe we're both on the same side, but I think the general populace already doesn't understand the difference between what is touted as "3d" (as in rendered CGI) and what is stereo3d. That's why the phrase 2 1/2D was coined.
We don't need another--say 2 3/4D. True stereo blows away artificially generated stereo or pulfrich stereo any day of the week--in more ways than just "pop out" effects. I'm talking volumetric smoke effects, shimmers and reflections, transparency effects, "roundedness", etc. Show the people that and people will get on the bandwagon for sure.

###Take lord 'o the Rings for example..There's shit loadsa panning going on in that movie..###

O.K., exactly how much of the movie consists of horizontal pans? 5%? 10%? And how fast is the panning and in which direction? Usually the camera follows an object while panning which won't move much. Let's say the object is a horse, the legs are moving back and forth. What does this mean for Pulfrich-stereo? Inconsistency!

###Now combine that with 2d to ThreeD conversion methods, and you get Artificial Intelligence created stereo for non "action" scenes from the films to fill in the blanks. ###

Sorry, but this sounds like pointless technobabble.

###where you get some say kicking a soccer ball at the screen.. then you grab that piece of clip in aftereffects, rotoscope the soccer ball out, take it into software like Maya, map it onto a plane and then animate that plane for "out of screen effects". blah blah..###

A movie scene has more objects than just 1 ball. You can't convert a complex scene manually and even if you were crazy enough you just don't have the required information, since textures and depth-values are missing.

###you all seem to be stuck to the old ThreeD methods, and refuse to even investigate new terrain that is being covered.###

This isn't about old vs. new, but about real vs. fake.

###Hey and thats the only way to convert them into discerning stereo fans...###

To generate a fan base you need good, real stereo in the first place.

###And i havent yet heard of autostereo or barrier screen projection screens yet. ###

I once heard of a barrier system for large projections in Russia. Between the screen and the audience were lots of vertical spanned wires.

..Ok I rest my case on this, "you win".
However I am creating short segments for display on X3D sutostereo screens and here's the tools that help

1) Software version of the VFX converter (not available commercially) for that fill in the blanks stereo where no motion parallax is happening or *techno babble* as you call it.

2) Mokey .. look at that software for generating missing information in video frames

3) Dynapel motion-Perfect

Now UNTIL there is a realiable method of doing 2view stereo to 8view, AND/OR you can convince DPs to shoot with an array of 9cameras, Im afraid there is ALWAYS going to be a trade-off on this "deep-Vision" kind of cinema displays.

Its a step in the right direction however, if 3D is created this way IMO, vesus the older converter boxes that just shifted the entire image plane inside or outside a scene.
Regards
Clyde

Sorry, but with all this pseudo-science mumbo jumbo it looks like pure 100% scam to get investors money. And more: deeptheater.com owner wants to stay anonymous.

Domain "deeptheater.com" was registered thru company:

Home Page of "Domains by Proxy":

[quote]Did you know that for each domain name you register, anyone - anywhere, anytime - can find out your name, home address, phone number and email address? The law requires that the personal information you provide with every domain you register be made public in the "WHOIS" database. Company "Domains by Proxy" states that this is good solution. But company forgot to mention that this solution is just perfect for spammers and scammers.

To Clyde

Sorry for mixing your quote ("I wish you guys wouldn't be such die hard skeptics!") with deepthescamshit.com. :)

Anyway, quote "I wish you guys wouldn't be such die hard skeptics!" is in the TOP-20 Quotes of Scammers. Like: "A MASSIVE breakthrough in Science..." or "It works!" or "This is not a scam!" or "Why I would lie to you?" or "we guarantee…" or "Average gain after taking pills was 3.02 Inches!" :)
