Just downloaded it from scitechsoft ftp. ftp://ftp.scitechsoft.com/gld/beta/ It has it`s own stereo support for almost any glasses on the market. And it works. Quite slow though. And of course, for openGl only(that`s GL Direct). I hope to see SDD7 soon to get stereo in Direct3d too. |

If it will work IT IS AN REVOLUTION FOR SERIOUS APPLICATION. If this drivers will work as described and be enoght stable, it will be an excelent API for serius aplication development. An standard for in-window based HW page flipping is something for what I am waiting several years ... |

Well, you seem to overestimate the program. ;-) That`s not an API and not a driver in it`s usual form. OpenGL-work-through-Direct3D wrapper. That`s what it is. But there`s been a certain brainstorm made when writing it, that`s for sure. And it took TIME. The 1st beta dated year 1999 if i`m not mistaken. Stereo support implemented in this wrapper indeed works, but slow. And actually I don`t see for myself where I can use it so far. Quake3 works but somewhat not well enough. You don`t have to install drivers for your videocard from the glasses manufacturer, that`s a plus(it works on Detonator for me). But still, what i`m waiting for is Scitech Display Doctor 7. Maybe it won`t work as a substitute for mythical detonators with built-in stereo support, but i`d still like to see such kind of a program from a third-party company, which Scitechsoft seems to be. The file`s just 3megs. Maybe for someone it`ll work better, than for my TNT2 Ultra. And I wonder will it allow Geforce 2 MX users to play in OpenGl-stereo. I heard some complaints about the impossibility of that. |

Plaing games is the last thing in with I am interesting. The main advantage of this drivers is, that we will be possible to use the same profesional stereoscopic aplication , working up to now under NT only on special graphic card on common Nvidia based graphic card under Win9X . OpenGl is the only one existing standard for in window stereoscopy witch realy works ... ( I do not speak about the newer implemented DirectX7 definition) I am e.g. now developing and stereo-video editing plugin for Premiere witch stereoscopic preview directly from Premiere. To use OpenGl for it is a pice of cake in comparison to other non-standard solutions ... I have now I chance that it will be working not only under NTwitch specialised graphic cards, but on common graphic cards as well ... |

Well, you seem to overestimate the program. Not at all, for playing games it is right that Gldirect has "almost no use" but when it was first released (gldirect 1) only a few non pro graphic cards had a decent opengl driver. Some pro opengl applications did not run at all without gldirect. Scitechsoft has been developing gldirect 2 for the last 3years and they did a real great job with the stereo support. It is now possible to run real (native) opengl stereo apps under WinMe or Win98 on inexpensive graphics cards.( i think the less expensive pro graphic card with stereo support is at least two times more expensive than the more expensive gaming card) There is a loss performance with gldirect but it is a small price to pay . The performance is "good enough" for me to remove NT from my home computer . Michal is right OpenGl is a "clean" api for develloping stereo apps. I started learning OpenGl only because it is the only standard (portable) graphic api with stereo support. So again thanks to Schitechsoft and Dave Milici for a REAL GREAT piece of software. You made a stereographer really happy. |

Did anyone succeed to find a normal mode in which you can use gldirect 2beta30 with Revelator to get 3d studio max ( ver. 3 in my case ) to work in stereo? I've partially succeed but there are many glitches. |

Did anybody try to run the OpenGL demos attached to GLdirect under NT 4 with normal OpenGL drivers ? It use some non standard GLUT version and always crashes with unable to create randering content message .... I would like to have a look on the source codes of stereo demos and recompile them with correct GLUT lib, unfortunately thy are not available on Dave Milici www .... |

I have found that the latest version of GLdirect is available for download from this link: http://www.stereographics.com/support/stereoeyes/index.html (without the Relevator support, you must sync to the monitos signal in some way, blue line code support only) I am now extensively testing this version. It is unstable on FireGL 1000 Pro, but it looks stable on a graphic card with TNT2 chipset and 32M memory. My GLUT demos works, my oven scientific-visualisation software work, I will try to rewrite my stereo-video player back to OpenGl and give this API one more chance ... |

I did not try to run the OpenGL demos attached to GLdirect under NT 4(i will try them at work) as i had the original demos from Dave Milici, these run perfectly under NT4. I tried them on my firegl 1000pro and on 3d labs and intergraph cards at work. For the source code you should e-mail Dave Milici. The trouble you are having with the Firegl 1000pro is mainly due to the directx driver wich is quite old and not full featured by current standard. That is why i replaced it by a geforce based graphic card. (1280*1024 16bits,1152*864 32bits with all buffers on). blue line code support only should read stereographics hardware only ,which is quite normal, they licensed gldirect for their hardware. Most native stereogl apps i have tried run o.k. ( i think i tried almost all native stereogl apps freely avalable) the main problem is speed or rather the lack of it with complex models (cadcam, molecules ..). |

To Mr Husak! The included demos work fine. Your opengl viewer and opengl seem to have problems, but then again GLDirect has some stability issues and I'll have to try again. Running on nvidia GeForce, 533 drivers, GLDirect2beta30. |

ToxicX: Nice review ! You shuld mention the the version of GLdirect from Stereographic WWW . It support only glasses without color code activation + blue line code but it is time unlimited. Anonymous under: did you try the included demos under NT ? It crashes on my machines ... |

I tried the demos under NT4 sp6 , no problem if you use the glu32.dll included with the demos. I tried them with latest dll from the glut distribution (3.7 i think) , with these, if you do not exit the demos with file menu close the demos the computer hangs (be it under winMe or nt) ,if you exit with the file menu there is just an error message before the demo closes. |
