I really excited that these are out finally.. Haven't done extensive testing but so far they work in Doom 3 although with several drawbacks. you have to disable shadows since they arent rendered correctly in stereo. That's actually quite a bummer to for D3. Also certain shader effects like "heat haze" and glass distortion dont seem to be rendered correctly in stereo. Not to mention the darkness of the game causes quite a bit of ghosting. but otherwise it ran pretty well for me. I'm sure it would nice on a HMD since it would eliminate the ghost.. Also the Nvidia stereo viewer for JPS files seems to be broken. It shows a double image instead of combining left with right.. :-/ oh well, this is progress at least.. |

I have tried to use 71.84 in FPS "Star Wars - Republic Commando", but it required reverse stereo. How can I do it with out using anagliph glasses? |

A warning about the new 71.84 Nvidia drivers - Hard OCP reports that the new drivers cause the processors to run at full tilt and full heat ALL THE TIME. This a major bug I'm sure Nvidia will fix ASAP. You might want to just wait for the fix. |

that seems to be about the display drivers and not the stereo 3D drivers with the same version number.. I bit confusing eh? I think Nvidia should just package them both together to avoid confusion.. |

Painkiller flickers a hell of a lot with these new drivers. I've gone back to the old ones. |

I noticed quite a bit of flicker at certain resolutions but if I lowered the res. everything was fine. I think its because games like Doom 3 and Halflife 2 put a strain on the graphics card in stereo (or even mono for that matter) That and all my refresh rate in the stereo settings had reset.. now all is well |

I don't think the 71.84 stereo drivers fully support 6600GT yet. I had excellent 3d stereo in my fav game series, IL-2, using my old trusted GF3Ti & series 30 / 40 drivers but after upgrading my card (& by necessity my drivers) the game no longer works in stereo despite all efforts (many objects or text not rendered). Others have reported some success with this driver with 5950 so I'm wondering if is specifically support for 6600gt that is the problem? Rodger |
