Hi there, I am thinking of ordering Spy Kids 3D Game Over from here: http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=144385&searchtype=genre&id=0&p=57&g=72&adudisc=y&who=&cpage=1&pa=prod&add=144385 I have only 1 Sanyo PLZ-Z3 LCD projector which has a refresh rate of 60-85 hz. It has the follwoing connections DVI out, component out, S-Video out, composite out. Spy Kids 3D Game Over comes with 4 3D glasses, i take it those are the anaglyph red and blue glasses. I want to play the movie on my laptop and connecting it to my projector and then use the latest version of the stereoscopic movie player which you can find here: http://mitglied.lycos.de/stereo3d/ I just would like to know will it work? Would the stereo be good, i have heard that on single LCD projector that because of the refresh rates you will get residual ghosting. Well i also heard that would only be because of old technology but newer projetors have fixed that problem. Is the 3D effect good of spy kids using the setup i have just mentioned? Can Sensio 3D movies be played through the stereo scopic movie player? I hope you can answer my questions Any help much appreciated Many thanks | ||

one other thing is that the projector has a native resolution of 1280 x 720p it will play 4:3 images but with black borders on the sides. I am projecting onto a wall at the moment as i have not got my self a projection screen. At the moment the image is about 122 inches, widescreen. | ||

The LCD projector is totaly non-suitable for stereo usage .... If it will show anything, it will be very very bad ... | ||

Why is it non suitable, I was thinking of buying the Sensio 3D processor and sensio say my projector is fine for 3D they said i may get some residual ghosting. But the ghosting is said to be old technology, and newer projectors like mine don't have the problem. So i don't see why it won't work, can you please be more specific? | ||

Hello, Which edition of Spy Kids do you plan to buy? If it is the anaglyph version, you can play it with any Software-DVD-Player on any projector (only in anaglyph format) of course. If you buy the Sensio version (uses side-by-side format), Stereoscopic Player can convert it to pageplipped output for shutterglasses, but in this case you probably need another projector, e.g. the DepthQ. I recommend that you just try if your projector is capable of stereoscopic playback or not. Download Stereoscopic Player and some sample movie from the Internet and check if it works... | ||

dvbunny1: It will not work or it will give very bad results form folowing reasons - most projctor on the market works only up to 60 Hz output (they accept any frequence on the input but converts it to 60 Hz). So it will flicker a lot. - the pojectors are not sycnhronzied with the input, no HW on the inptut can eliminat this, so in such case stereo does not work at all - LCD projector will have probably slow color creation reaction - you will see ghosting (if it will work at all) I suggest to you to try computer based playback with CRT monitor and high-frequency anc compare the result with the projector you have. In this way you will be able to see the diferences in quality i speak about. With specialised stereoscopic projector (InFocus DepthQ or super expensive Christie products) the results are even much beter than with CRT monitor. Whateve the Sension people are doing - the key problme is none of standard projector is realy suitable for stereoscopic visaulisation. | ||

Hello Peter Wimmer, I thought about installing the stereoscopic player on my laptop and connecting it to my projector and then trying a sample 3D clip. But the reason i wanted to get Spy Kids 3D Game Over is because it comes with anaglyph red and blue glasses, as i have not got any so i cannot do what you are saying as of yet, and as i found the movie for cheap i just thought that i would buy it, because of the glasses that i need. Unless you know of a way i can just test if my projector works with stereo without needing any glasses. Also when you watch a colour 3D movie using red and blue glasses do you see the movies in red and blue or does it turn to colour? Any help much appreciated Many thanks | ||

Hello Peter Wimmer, Just one more thing Do i actually need to first install the Nvidia stereo drivers, then the stereoscopic movie player, then play Spy kKids 3D Game Over in the DVD drive of my PC. Then put on the 3D glasses that comes with the DVD movies and then sit back and watch the visuals coming off my projector? Is this what you do, or do i not need the PC, do i just play Spy Kids 3D Game Over through my DVD player connected to my projector and put on the red and blue glasses that comes with Spy Kids 3D Game Over? I take it this method is completely wrong and it is infact the method going through the PC. If you can let me know on the right method and answer my questions in my previous post, that would be very helpful. Many thanks | ||

If it is an anaglyph version of Spy Kids 3d Game Over just a PC DVD Player and your anaglyph glasses with the projector connected via VGA (DB15) is required Don't be afraid to just jump in and try things. If you get stuck then ask for help. | ||

Many thanks for your reply, My projector has a DVI connection, so will a DVI to VGA adapter or DVI to VGA cable work? Also how good will the stereo work, i take it that you will see a lot of depth but the visuals won't pop out of the screen anc come towards you like in a themepark, i take it you will only get that if you have 2 projectors side by side or a very expensive 3d projector, is that right?
