Did anyone watch the episode of Medium tonight that had the 3D scenes in it? The first one with the guy painting was good but what did you guys think of the rest of the scenes?

It was very disappointing to find there was only a total of just under 2 minutes of 3-D footage but it was one of the better anaglyph broadcasts I've seen.

The 3-D scenes were very well staged for "out of screen" effects (the meat cleaver in the victim's back, the victim sticking her hand out of the bag just before she's killed, etc.), with good overall depth perception in all scenes.

Unfortunately, all anaglyph images on television suffer from color inaccuracies, so significant ghosting was present. (The scenes would look much better if played on a computer with precise color correction.)

I watched it on a plasma and projection screen and could not make out any of the 3d.

It looked awesome in HD. I don't think it would look good on a non HD TV.

CyberWorld:

When you say "awesome," does this mean that the red / blue color was precise enough to prevent any ghosting in the 3-D images?

I've never seen any CRT television anaglyph broadcast that could acheive this, so if it's now possible with HDTV, that's a major step forward for televised stereoscopic displays.

with a HDTV you can adjust color and sharpness to eliminat most of the goasting....color on a standard tv can't be as stable as in HDTV....anaglyph works well on HDTV....now if the projection and plasma TVs were not HD,the anaglyph wount work
