I'm looking for a 1024x768 full color HMD with headtracking for use with Austin Meyer's X-Plane 8.20...the finest flight sim in existence. 3D is not necessary and wouldn't be used by me. |

Does the Emagin crop 1024x768 in a centered kind of way, or it pushed to one corner? If it's centered, that 800x600 display might work. Very stupid of Emagin to put out an 800x600 HMD, though. That's not a standard resolution in this day in age. Maybe a decade ago, but not now. |

No cropping, it has to be 800x600. |

Check out www.tekgear.com. They seem to have all of the commercially available HMDs listed on their site. It looks like a ProView might be your only option. |

Has anyone seen the Visette 45 shown on Tekgears website here: http://www.tekgear.com/index.cfm?pageID=90&prodid=480§ion=85&nodelist=1,83,85 ? It says that it has a res. of 1280 x 1024 for $7900 |

Well, I guess that means the first company to make a quality sub-$2000 full color 1024x768 HMD is going to be very rich. It doesn't even need to be 3D. I can hardly justify buying an HMD that won't work with X-Plane or Falcon 4:AF. I'm not into first person shooters, but I know a couple of the best ones won't do 800x600, either. Are there any software plugins that can run in the background and scale everthing to a lower res for the VGA outs? My video card has a TV out and it does that, but it's worthless if the HMD won't accept the cable. |

Reticuli- My guess is the market for a $2000 HMD is a bigger niche than the one for a $900 one (by bigger niche , I mean smaller market)- regardless of resolution or 3D. Besides-what does companies getting rich have to do with anything? |

Any nvidia based card will do what you are asking. You can set the drivers to scale any res. up or down to the res. of your fixed pixel display such as an 800x600 hmd. |
