Hi Tigerclaw thanks for the input. What is your position at eMagin? |

Think before write. I don't think someone who says that z800 is overpriced for what it deliver and posts infos on another FMD here: http://www.stereo3d.com/discus/messages/24/3652.html?1135834660 can be an Emagin member. Please convert this board to a forum registration only. People are becoming be paranoid. |

TigerClaw you are right. How hard can it be to change this forum to registration only? |

Tiger et al, Does anyone know what the difference may be in this model or when it will be coming out? Could the X stand for an increase to XGA resolution? |

Who cares? Move on like most of have, if you don't like it. Used to post here regularly until the emagine marketeers turned up. Its a free world. 3DMan sounds a pissed off as I used to be. If its not marketing why isn't all the Emagin stuff posed in the HMD section where it belongs and not in the News section? Its simply NOT news anymore. What would registration do? A marketeer can register as well as the next person. Personnally I only look on here once a quarter or so now as there are far better and more productive places to share and discuss 3d issues and ideas with, than here. Sorry Christoph - they will leave this alone in the end and things will go back to normal. Happy New Year to all Unclebob |

Unclebob, Would you mind listing some of the "more productive" 3-D discussion boards that you are familiar with, so that forum readers who are interested can check them out? Thanks. |

Bob - the title of the thread is "NEW Visor form emagin..." and seems like news to me. As usual though , your post has nothing to offer except your own venting of frustrations. And , no , actually 3D man does not sound like you , he is you. And you no more want registration that the omniscient "marketeers" , because it makes it that much easier for you to routinely post your whining here and flame others anonymously. The problem is simple. Your quandary is that as products like the Z800 and new iterations of it, and new software and devices make stereoscopic 3D experiences available to the unwashed masses, and (gulp)even to 9 year olds, once they become more and more developed and affordable, people like yourself will no longer have such an interesting and arcane little hobby , and then there will be absolutely no reason for anyone to talk to you at cocktail parties anymore- given your charming personality. I knew the same types back when PC's were introduced to the hoi polloi. Ah , how they longed for the glory days. Sad. Bye - i'll look for your reply next quarter. |

Some real specifications for the new eMagin unit would be great. Probably essentially the same unit as the z800 without head tracking I am willing to bet. |

So back on track, TigerClaw, or anyone else, do you know what the new x800 will offer us ? If they are still useing "800" in the name"x800" maybe it is still an 800*600 disply or useing the dislpay with a few more pixels on the horizontal that would make for a wider FOV ? Anyone know whats up ? |

The X800 is a new FMD from emagin not an old one such as the z800, so I post in the news section. Anyway I'm Italian, there isn't even an Emagin RESELLER here so how I can have a position in Emagin?. Also, I don't think I can write so well in English to keep secret so well I'm writing from another country on another continent. Anyway, no one know what X stand for. Someone, on EMA board think it can be referred to XBOX or, as someone have already said to XGA resolution. Ciao a tutti dall'Italia e per piacere cercate di non essere cosi paranoici :D |

I personally think the X 800 will have lower specification than Z 800. Why? Because X is before Z :D A solid comment :D |

I think the X800 will not have a tracker in it. Same screen specs - X out the tracker. |

saviar I agree. Kind of a waste unless the price is dramatically less. A PC based HMD without a tracker sucks. |

Marketeer to the stars what a prat you are. If this is such an "arcane little hobby" why on earth are you here? What value do you think your opinion means to me or anyone else? Sad sad little man. Go back to the fanboy forums or consider posting something constructive. No wonder so many of the old hands have left this board. Charles as for posting other boards that have anything to do with this community why on earth would I do that with ignorant people like that around? People are fed up with the amount of emagine trivia that is posted. Especially when most of it - this thread may be the one of the few exceptions - belongs in the HMD section... Unclebob |

Look on the Emagin website forum area. It was posted today that the (X)800 will be like the (Z)800 but with out the head tracking. Link: http://www.3dvisor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32 |

So much bickering on this forum now. The comments against the old members are simply out of order. I rarely come here anymore either. |

Rage, it is indeed sad to see the bickering here and, for me, the prejudice against eMagin investors, of which I am one. I follow the discussions here among the truly knowledgable gamers in order to get an "unbiased" view, and post only to be helpful should I happen to know the info being sought. Unclebob was right in the beginning to urge caution against plunking down a week's wages for an untested product, which the Z800 certainly was at the time. But now I believe with the help of many here, we know what this product can do and cannot. It is now up to each individual to decide whether it will enhance some aspect of his/her computing experience be it gaming, design or simply movie watching. To uncle I would say that the forays onto these boards by so-called emagin marketeers is not a reflection on the product, which should be the focus here, but on a naive segment of investors who labor under the mistaken belief that pumping emagin's product will elevate its stock price. Bob, to urge a blanket bais against ALL investors would deprive the board of some useful information, as some of them are quite technically proficient. For example: AkemiMiyo. Far worse than pumpbers, there are a few non-emagin investors out to discredit emagin's products for the benefit of their investment in competing technologies, e.g., microdisplays. In the beginning you were treated to false information regarding VR sickness, nose pinching, and phoney reviews. To my amazement, many of you quickly smoked those phonies. Like any new product, there is a shake-down period. And in the case of Z800 it is nearly over. Now it is starting for the non-headtracking X800 and the seemingly ridiculous monocular Eye-Bud. Personally, I will probably never buy any of them. I am neither a gamer nor a designer, just an investor. My view, however, is not the standard on which I judge others. That is how it should be for everyone. Thanks to the regulars who gave their honest opinion, pro and con, since the Z800's debut. |

Its rather amusing that people are actually complaining that eMagin employees frequent these forums. Don't you think that the people that designed the product would be the most qualified to answer any questions? In the past people have complained that the VR companies dont waste their time with us, now they complain that they can't trust anyone's opinion. Honestly, from what I've read, the Z800 is the best product on the consumer market and despite what many people think, $900 *IS* cheap. Most of the negative comments are based on false hopes that the Z800 will magically transport the user into Narnia, complete with smell-o-vision and a haptics body suit. Sorry, VRs not there yet, but as of right now the Z800 is the next best thing. //cybereality |

I agree with Cyberreality. The real problem as I see it, is that there are few car or flight simulators out there with wich you can use the full potential of Z800´s headtracker, ie in wich you can move your head around the cockpit. In first person shooters you use the mouse to aim and move around, so here good shutterglasses is a better option than Z800. |
