I have found intersting parameters of DH4400-VP HMD on following WWW : Http://www.personaldisplay.com The mentioned resolution (800x600) loks interesting ... + it shuld be stereo capable ... The price is $1,200. Does anybody have experiences with this HMD ? Could anybody compare it to Sony Glastron or VFX3D ? |

The DH4400-VP isn't stereo-capable - yet. I tried it in March 2000 at the last CeBIT. If a stereo-version should become a reality it will have a 'D' in the model name. There's also no headtracking. The image is better than VFX3D. Daeyang is travelling from trade show to trade show. They claimed to have ordered 150,000 displays from www.microdisplay.com. They're seeking partners and stuff. As far as I know you still can't buy anything. Christoph |

Mindflux is the Australian and New Zealand distributor of the Cy-Visor. We have had a good look at prototypes initially and then just recently the final production model. It is a very good headset. Similar to the glasstron but not quite as refined. It has true 800x600 and supports ALL video standards. It displays video full screen unlike the S700. VERY nice with the S-video connection. We have already sold out of the first few units that we had. We are ordering alot more. The resolution is quite a lot better than the i-glasses and VFX3D with a PC. As Christoph said, there is no stereoscopic model yet. So, they are NOT vapourware. http://www.mindflux.com.au/products/daeyang/cy-visor.html |

The cy-visor DH 4400VP is now full up in production according to Daeyang. The production started in the last week of February. Initially there was quite a few problems with the displays but with production version they seem to have solved all the problems. We at Cybermind Nederland believe it is the best headset available in it's price at the moment, and will be doing the distribution for Europe. Don't you think it is possible with two normal pair of cy-visor to build one stereo capable headset with 2 separate s-video/svga inputs, one input per eye ? I found a description how to convert a plm-s700 into a monocle display at http://www.cc.gatech.edu/ccg/resources/glasstron/ So It should be possible to mount one feeded display for each eye on a single headset, no ? If I compare the prices (from cybermind): Two pair of Cy-visor DH-4400VP cost 2270 Euro ~ 2000 US$ Two pair of glasstron PLM-S700 cost 3800 Euro ~ 3400 US$ I ask myself if see-throuh capability of the glasstron(the real only difference!) justify the 1550 Euro = 1350 US$ difference between the two product ? My application with this kind of special HMD is mainly to operate with two s-video source (like dual video camera) especially to control a live 3D video performance and/or two svga (pc) connection from dual vga board for playback movie after editing. What do you think about this idea ? Do you think See-Through mode is important for comfort while shooting video ? Your comments about this project are highly recommended before I decide myself to buy. Thanks to answer me quickly Best regards |

Current cost is US$650 + freight. They claim no agent in New Zealand and Australia, so cost inc duty (5% for medical) would be something like AUD$1300. Sounds likes a good deal. |
