very very interesting product. I think especially the low price (around 250 Euro) makes it attractive. How much is shipping to germany/Europe? What payment types are accepted (paypal?)? |

Is this barrier or lenticular? Viewing angle? Viewing distance? |

It's a parallax Barrier Type display. The nominal angle is 130 Degrees Horizontally and 110 Degrees vertically, but for the full 3D effect i think a much smaller angle is required. No idea about the max viewing distance, probably not very far for such a cute display. I hope Jie Gao will answer that. I really like the compact design and that it comes with rechargable batteries and a remote control, definitely makes this a steal. I really like the idea of having a compact 3D screen i can put in my suitcase for traveling or to impress workmates. I'm gonna order one as soon as my next paycheck arrives. =) The design of the website is not that good, the shop is hidden so well, i needed minutes to find it although i have been on it before. Maybe add it to the front page or top menu? http://shop.zogano.com/ |

It's parallax barrier type display.Best viewing distance is within 2 meters although you could view good 3d effect beyond 2 meters. We should inform the marketing team to improve the website design. As per euro Pal format,we are studying the next generation products. It can not launch before X'mas. But our present product is already so amazing. I do hope somebody can test and write a great review as the third party. |

AH just another question... You have that Tru3D DV thingy... I actually thought it was some kind of modern Viewmaster, you know these 3D image viewers that came with a round reel of a few images? Probably everyone had one as a kid. Well i today found this offer: http://www.ultimate3dheaven.com/3ddvrepl.html It seems to be the same device as in your shop, but this one came with a clear description (On your homepage it only shows a picture and in the shop it just says stuff about a gold member ship card or stuff, really didnt get it) and guess what - it's a digital 3D camcorder. Is that the same model as in your store? just asking as this one costs less than half of the model in your store. Unfortunately you have like a whole page about gold card membership written and nothing about what the actual item really is, so I'm not sure. Did i mention the website is really a bit bad designed? I mean you really would expect some info about the products when you click on products, not just 4 uncommented photos. |

Our product is a true 3d dv with a optical stereo system. We are applying patents now, therefore I cannot say more. It is not a toy. The viewing Screen is a 3d monitor, with which you can view 3d effect while shooting a film. You need not even wear glasses. It is the same 3d monitor as our palm 3d system. |

I just learned from R&D that the Zogano website is planning to update soon, for we have some new items to be released.what's more, please note the 3d dv and 3d palm media player are very innovative products. There are quite a few members of Stereo 3d have purchased from us. We are still applying patents for many of our items, therefore we cannot disclose too much information. You know, now, only FUJI has similiar products. We have some resellers all over the world. We donnot comment on any products from other sources. Thank you! |

Still i think when you want to sell a product you should honestly describe all features. For a product costing 1700 USD you would expect to read about all technical features. I am sure you would also not buy a new car if the manufacturer does not tell you how many horsepower it has or if it is equipped with air-conditioning or not. I am sure i will order a Palm media Player to test, but about the 3D DV after some looking at the photos i am sure it is identical with the product in your shop. You dont need to comment that if you don't want to, but still i am a bit surprised as i would have expected you are the manufacturer, so you should be able to be the one offering it for the best price, or at least not more than double the price. You could at least confirm that it is an official reseller or not. But obviously it is the same product or are there other manufactuerers with counterfeit products (stealing your design)? I am a bit sad that you don't reveal more information about the 3D DV, as it is quite unique - there are no other 3D camcorders available on the market, so it is definitely interesting. If it is still "secret" before all patent issues are cleared i would not offer it for sale in your shop, it does not give a good impression to the customer. I also find the naming a bit odd, 3D DV does not sound like a camera, i originally would not have guessed it can record video. I would suggest renaming it to 3D DV Camcorder, so everyone will immediately understand "Hey i can record my own 3D video with this", I am sure that would help enhance sales. |

Dear Fronzel, Many thanks for your kind advice. The 3D DV is still at the stage of concept.I can tell you at the moment you can not expect an industrial 3d effect on a consumer 3d DV.This is not a final product. We listed the price which doesn't mean we can sell it as final product. We can now sell this product simply for further test. If you are a 3d fan you should know the actual price for a normal 3d monitor(I mean true 3d monitor with no need of glasses). Is $1500 enough? The theory of 3d dv is actually very simple.Keep 2 cameras at a certain distance. This way one picture from one camera differs slightly from the other. If you are interested in this kind of products, please contact me.Perhaps I can reveal more info. |

What about video capture? I hope it is more than 640x480 like in the offer i linked to. because even the 15 years old Toshiba 3D cam records in 640x480. 2D image up to 3 magepixel is fine, but what about video? And what about a camera tripod, can one be attached? Especially for video i find a tripod usefull as it is hard to hold the camera calm enough. Also the steady cam can be used with a standard tripod adapter, so for everything that goes above a pure gimmick into serious camera ranges should have a tripod adapter and hopefully record video in full HD resolution. I dont compare the 3D DV with a monitor. I am aware it can be used as one, but with the design - you would hold it in front of his head like a binoculars with both hands? I can do that for a minute then my arms would start hurting probably. maybe it can be used as kinda HMD if you offer a headmount, but without one it would probably be too uncomfortable for use as a screen. I see its only serious use as a 3D camcorder (For a photo camera in 3D it is too bulky compared with Fuji model which costs around 500-600 USD). I would also be interested in the screen used in this, what is their resultion? I still think that maybe with a headmount it could be used as a HMD if the resolution is high enough. Dear Fronzel,Glad to see your post again. From your description,I know you want something for professional jobs.I can say, right now the Zogano 3d dv is not suitable. It's only a consumer class item. The good news is,that we will produce a HD version 3d dv,which can support 1280x720p,5m cmos.I can;t reveal more info now, because it is still at the concept stage.I do hope that can meet most of your requirements. |

Glad to hear you are among the few companies that still develop! I already thought about buying a used Toshiba SK-3D7K 3D Video Camcorder. If I'm not wrong the only 3D camcorder ever commercially produced before the 3D DV. But it is 20 years old, still using analog VHS-C tapes and has only two 640x480 CCD. Now, that over 20 years later finally a 3D camcorder with HD resolution will hit the market is like a dream coming true. I hope it will have a handy case (I think the binocular type is not that great to hold while filming) and a tripod adapter, so it can be used with a camera tripod or steady cam. I think it is very important to have a tripod adapter as for professional use you don't have much use for shaking free-hand recordings. |

Fronzel, Where have you been? The Fuji 3D digital camera does 640x480 video right out of the box. That is far bette than the Toshiba ever hoped to do in VHS. |

Hi larry, I am aware that the Fuji takes 640x480 videos which i think is one of the main drawbacks in that device. As a fact the Toshiba also records in 640x480 and it is around 20 years old. I find it ashaming that with todays tech we have the same resolution as 20 years ago, even if video in a photo camera is more of a "gimmick". I cant see how this is "far better", actually its on par, okay due to the fact it is not saved on VHS-C in the Fuji makes it better, but still disappointing to wait 20 years to get the same resolution in the newest "hype" product. really looking forwards to Zoganos HD 3D camcorder... |

The Fuji is 640x480 each side. The Toshiba is interlaced. The quality is not similar. You have never compared the two side-by-side. |

Dear Larry, trust me when i tell you that i know the difference between side-by-side and interlaced format. From a historical viewpoint you are of course right, the side-by-side is superior and so are the CCDs used in the Fuji. Still the Toshiba SK-3D7K was introduced in 1988 on the LAs vegas CES. While a 640x480 (Or "half of it" as interleaved halves the vertical res) was "pretty impressive" back in 1988 it is like the worst available in 2009. Now 21 years later every crap 10$ webcam has a 640x480 resolution and while this may be suitable as a "gimmick" or for personal use it is out of discussion to call that "impressive" today. I'd recommend the Fuji Finepix W1 as a 3D photo camera for stills, which it is great for, but for sure not as a camcorder for video. I am still crossing my thumbs it will become a bestseller as this would imho straighten the path for some full HD 3D camcorders. |

VHS, even SVHS is never really 640x480. You are well into the noise floor at that point. You must know that. It just can't store that bandwidth. In addition, there is a color-burst taking away from even what could have been. If VHS had been a true 640x480, there would have never been a Beta format. Hi8 nor even DVD would have never taken off. Second, what is stored on the Fuji is indeed only 640x480 for a number of reasons, none of which is directly technical. They have more to do with standards than anything else. They got beaten up pretty quickly on a 'new non-standard format' for stills. There still are no solid formats for 3D with DVD or blu-ray, and my guess is Fuji is waiting for that like everyone else. The imagers are 10 mega-pixel, and most of what is stored is done with frame averaging. In addition, it's a heavily compressed format. The RAW image would be great but an SDHC can't store at that bandwidth for very long; in fact the Fuji only guerentees RAW for XD (limit 2Gb... minutes!) Resolution is certainly not everything, we could talk about dynamic range too. VHS cameras like the Toshiba tend to mute colors in low lighting. Modern cameras do not. Technical achievement is certainly NOT what this thread is about; we were talking a barrier 3D display in this thread. You can make your own with some transparancy media and a good printer. What we are talking is putting it together in a package and marketing it. Fuji at least understood that fixed position lenses don't do everything a 3D photographer needs to do, but they try to fix it in software for stills. They knew that it wasn't that easy for a movie. Toshiba tried to market a product in 1988, and abandoned it. In 1988 I was doing parallel Sharp Hi-8 cameras on a bar because VHS just isn't up to the task, and easily doubling the bandwith of any VHS. It's more work but is superior. As 'lame' as you think the Fuji is, it's far better than my parallel Hi-8's were (except that I can move the lenses on the bar). Unless 3D 'takes off' (which never seems to happen), Fuji may drop their work too. Stockholders are never impressed with technical issues and 'shareholder value' is everything. Besides, the cost will keep people away in droves. The Zongano display is nice, but hardly revolutionary. Ditto the Fuji or the Toshiba. If a HD 3D camcorder happes, it will take a much faster processor than anything in any camera today. |
