Fujifilm W3 ($500 list) is now at dual 10Mpix and dual 720P. They seem to have done everything 'right', except the price... http://www.fujifilm.com/products/3d/camera/finepix_real3dw3/ |

The price is quite normal, if you consider that there are 2 distinct lenses systems, 2 cmos captors and one 3D screen... |

Yes, but not low enough for 'the masses'. That 3D screen is quite nice. There are some online views of it; adjust paralax in real-time... no surprises! The 3X zoom is no surprise for a 3D camera, but it will scare some people off. Improvements in the output is very much appreciated. The 720P instead of 1080i or p is no surprise either; the data bandwidth is already high for the media and it's based on a (two?) cameras that are 720p. |

Yes but is the video truly 720p? Or is it 2 x 640 wide images squeezed into a 1280 wide frame like the Aiptek? I'm waiting to hear back from them on the format. The documentation states that 3D is 1280 x 720 24fps in a 2 image channel AVI container. But what, exactly, does that mean? Are there really 2 individual un-halved, un-stretched for display 1280 x 720 images for each frame? |

Well, since it can do true 720p flat (like most of the other Fuji compacts) I assume that each sensor can do so. How it is stored is another story. |

I tried asking them and all they did was send me links to the specs and manual on their website, which of course, I've already read thru cover to cover. This technology is so young with these companies that I don't think there are many individuals on staff that truly understand it. |

Go to youtube. There are lots of samples WITH DESCRIPTIONS of what was recorded. It appears to be genuine 720p each side. |

And sure enough, someone was kind enough to include a 1080 selection so you can see the actual LOD rendered! I'm impressed. just wish it wasn't 24fps. |

Picture quality is quite good, as far as I can get from someone's picture I found (http://phereo.com/markr041/image/153/). Credits say it's been shot with Fuji W3. |
