Hi, im trying to get 3D Stereo to work. Our system is: NVIDIA FX1400, 3,2GHZ Xeon, 4Gb Ram, XP Pro. Yesterday I installed the latest Nvidia driver + 3D Stereo driver(i think it was 91.36 + 91.31). Both Monitors had the same resolution(1280x1024), 32Bit and a refresh rate of 60Hz. I set it to Horizontal and DUAL VGA, 1280x1024x32 @60Hz. But I couldnt get it to work(e.g. with the medical test picture - left eye it was the right picture, on right eye I only get some garbage. My intention is it to use that system with 2 DLP Beamers. I also had to buy an non polarizing Screen(Im still looking for an distributor(Germany). I found one, but a little 2x1m screen costs about 2k Euro) Is it possible with this Hardware? Now some really Basic questions: I would use this with programms like Solid Edge , Ansys CFX and an Milling simulation(SurfCam). How do i have to understand the function of the NVIDIA graphic card(and the Stereo driver)? Does this driver generates a Stereopicture(or something that is moving) out of any DirectX Stream of an Game or an Application? Is it like:"Start 3D Stereo using 3D Stereo Driver, start the application and then i have a 3D Stereo Picture on my Silverscreen" - Is it so easy(I tried this yesterday without success )? I ask this because the NVIDIA driver is freeware and some commercial vendor(e.g. more3d) want to have for a software suite a few thousand euros? Where is the diverence? Thx Malte (Message edited by maltejahn on October 03, 2006) |

Hi please see this thread: http://www.stereo3d.com/discus/messages/3177/3660.html?1141755901 for one projector setup and here for 2 projectors setup: http://www.stereo3d.com/discus/messages/3177/3700.html?1155416818 I use this system for flight simulators and this active setup is more simplier as passive. Is not totally profesional setup (85 Hz refresh ,in low light conditions totally suficient and no flicker). For home or hobby use wery good, special screen is no necessary! Simple white wall is enough. Please see this, this are concentrated infos about 3D active setup: http://www.3dflightsim.com/ |

Thank you for you reply. We want to make an passive 3D Projection(what means polarized Light and eyeglasses). Didnt know if the setup of an system that uses shutter glasses is the same as ours. Today a little success: Yesterday i tried the "horizontal" mode in the 3D Stereo driver, but today i used the "Clone" mode. The test application in the 3D Stereo driver looks ok. After this success i wanted to try our CAD Solid Edge V17(help systems says that this is using OpenGL). But there was no 3D effect. Now i tried a VRML export of one of our CAD drawing, but the Cortona Plugin crashes(IE and Firefox) when i enable OpenGL Render and Fullscreen at the same time. After this day: I asked in my first post if DirectX works with that 3D Stereo software - today I would say no, it only supports OpenGL. Is that right. Im looking for a basic OpenGL application where i can test the 3D abbility of our system. Maybe just a little exe file. So I would know if our Hardware is OK and if there is a problem with VRML Plugin or Browser. Thanks Malte |

Hi, i now installed XP Pro again. Cortona(and IE) always crashes when I select Fullscreen and OpenGL at the same time. Malte |

Malte: Information how to use te only one stable sterescopic visaulusatuon method (OpenGL native HW steresocopci support) are on this link: http://www.gali-3d.com/archive/articles/StereoOpenGL/StereoscopicOpenGLTutorial.php |

Hi, it seems to me like i didnt know how to setup this things. I tried to do it like it is descriped here: http://www.accessgrid.org/agdp/howto/geowa...0.1/GW-Book.pdf But i cant find "Additional OpenGL" settings. Im also looking for "Enable Quad bufferer stereo API". I enabled 3D Stereo and Stereo Display mode is nClone. I cant see anything when i try these seetings in e.g. Cortona Plugin using an VRML file(OpenGl activated and Fullscreen). Is there a better stand alone VRML viewer? I use forceware 84.36 because it is certified by my CAD Programm. Today we took a look on the more3D software. It only supports DirectX, but not OpenGL. So, if we buy that more3D software, we always had to export our CAD files to VRML format and then view them in Cortona Player(using DirectX). I think that is no good way to work with a system like this. So the best would be to only use NVIDIA 3D using their Forceware Quadro driver. But i cant set it up :-( Other question. What kinds of inputs can we use. At the moment we view(or will view in the near future with more3D) our VRML file and use the normal mouse pointer. But that pointer is in 2D. Is there a software out that the pointer is also in 3D so I can show someone: "Look at this point in our 3D Model". Or are there other cheap methods you know to get a more realistic and interactive feeling. Last Question for today. I have a 3D model with a reference point x,y,z. Now I export this file to VRML. Is there a easy way to add a few lines of code to that file? E.g. i want that our Model rotates around it z axis, or follow a path. Is there a file to get familiar with basic coding like this, or do things like that only work with programs like 3DS MAX? Thanks Malte |

Hi, for DirectX 3D stereo visualisation use consumer 3D stereo drivers from NVidia and perform test with normal consumer NV graphiccard (5600-6600) and 77.77. 77.77 3D stereo drivers. When the software is DirectX compatible is no reason for no functioning. Next ev. per mail. |

Hi, the problem is(was i big error from me) that we use a Quadro graphic card. My Programs crashed because i was using the NVIDIA driver and the 3D Stereo Driver at the same time. But i already have options in the normal NVIDIA(Forceware) driver. Thanks Malte |

Hi again, at the moment we are usind the more 3D solution. Now it is possible to watch VRML(exported from our CAD System and CFD) in DirectX. Are there any good ressources where i can see how movies were produced in 3D(some Tutorial, Plugins? for 3DS Max,..) Thanks Malte |

Malte: Why do you sue More3D solution on Quadro card if you can use standard Quadro OpenGL stereo functionality in combination with stereo capable VRML viewers like QuadroView or BS Contact Stereo ? Your solution is a bit cumbersone .. |

Hi, we now tried to get this driver to work for 3 weeks - and it didnt work. I found a lot of HowTos of systems using shutter glasses, red/green glasses,... But it doesnt seems to me like someone used this 2 DLP Beamer... So we decided to use a working thing and at the moment thats more3D. We will try to get OpenGL to work, later. Thats because we have a demo license for 2 month. And, I dont want to see that f.. nvidia driver for the next few weeks :-) Malte Edit: At the moment: I cant find in that nvidia driver(Forceware) a point that says "Quad Buffer". I also didnt find the point "Additional OpenGL". And I cant install that special 3D Stereo driver because that is for consumer cards(while i used that one my PC crashed(VRML Plugin) (Message edited by maltejahn on October 13, 2006) |
