OK, it's well known that after the 162.5 drivers, nVidia no longer supported page-flipped modes. IZ3D did some work, but there were problems. I stayed with 162.5 as long as I could, but had to move on with one computer. Now I find another display bug in 162.5 (not a stereo bug) and want to move on. Does anyone know a GOOD way of putting page flipped in on later nVida drivers? |

Afaik the 173.68 was the last version to run fine with the 162.50 stereoscopic drivers, later versions simply won't work. If you can't get IZ3D working or dont wanna buy it then the easiest way would probably be to just take the graphics card from your old computer and install it in the new one (If they use the same gfx bus that is). There's also other drivers, like more3D, WinX3D, tridef and so on. Either give these a try or start looking for an "older" nvidia card on ebay that works with the last stereoscopic nvidia drivers. |

OK, here's the real issues. Yes, I got 173.68 loaded and 'working'. Thanks. Yes, my 4 pair of 'old style' wirless shutterglasses still work. The problem is this; I have an nVidia 7950GT on that box (a 3.2GHz Dual Core running XP) basically set up around the 162.5 Driver just for these glasses. I just installed a Blu-Ray player so I can rip the 3D Blu-Rays I get for the theater there instead of in the faster yet Core Duo (GT240 and latest drivers) I use for the theater. The box is plenty fast; both the ArcSoft and Cyberlink programs to see if your computer can handle Blu-Ray say everything is fine, but BOTH Arcsoft Total Media Theater 5 and Cyberlink Power DVD 8 (and the 10 I tried on trial) lock up in just a few seconds. This on plain 2D; I have not tried a 3D. The Arcsoft does give an error message; "Your video driver doesn not support Blu-Ray". I think Cyberlink will say the same thing when support gets back to me. The other game in town, Roxio Cineplayer HD requires at least 8400GS, which won't really work on these drivers. So until Peter finshes his Blu-Ray support on the Steroscopic player, I can't even play a blu-ray (although I can rip easily under DVDFab 8... and easily play the file... go figure). Now, about the 'newer' drivers. I own a copy of TriDef MediaPlayer (which by the way doesn't support Blu-Ray directly), but it's on the other computer for the theater and that's set for dual monitor (TriDef does not transfer to second hardware). I suppose I can put a dongle on that box, and see if the 260 series (I think that's current) and TriDef can run the old style glasses, but somehow I doubt it. So unless anyone else knows how to get 'Edumentional style' page flip turned on in a driver late enough to support Blu-Ray, this just isn't going to work. The day nVidia dropped page flip drivers was a bad day. |

Trying from another angle.... What modern Quaddro drivers support page flip-flipped stereo? XP, Windows 7? Are any of these drivers support 3D Blu-Ray? Which Quaddro cards? |

For a quaddro setup i would have recommended Nvidia 162.50 and WinX3D, that enables page flipped on quaddro cards. I recommend XP for that setup, win Vista and 7 definitely wont work with any of the nvidia stereo drivers in page flipped. BluRay 3D and old drivers can be a bitch. I am not sure if there is any combination that works, maybe Roxio works, but not with a 7950GT i think. I personally just rip the bluray to MKV and play it then. Not the worlds best solution but legit as it is simply required to playback the movie on my computer, i see it as a preparation for playback that is necessary due to technical reasons, i regard it as "buffering" the movie onto my HDD. Another solution might be a modern card & IZ3D. I am not much into page flipped, but i know they support it if your card can do page flipped. A friend has got IZ3D licensed (50 bucks) and it is wonderful, alas he has licensed it for side-by-side due to the 3D screen i gifted him is best at displaying this. |

That's about what I expected Fronzel. I am doing the MKV conversions now, and it's OK. I thought perhaps a 2000 series Qaddro would work with a later driver. I have a licensed copy of DDD, (I use it for the theater) and know that it does NOT support page flip with these glasses. I thought about IZ3D, and may go that way later, but I prefer to stay here for now. Who knows, perhaps Windows 8 will have more options, but I doubt it. So here I am at XP and old drivers. |

Yeah page flipping support can be a bitch, Nvidia is really not much help. I think ATI has made some drivers for more recent cards that include page flipping, but not native to the driver - If i remember right it was something like "Page flipping support for IZ3D and other stereo drivers...." or so. Luckily neither gfx cards nor PCs are a big investment for us and i think if you dont need the latest 3D games you can skip Vista or WIn 7. Maybe windows 8 has native BluRay support but i also wouldn't bet on it. And Nvidia - they just wanna sell THEIR glasses, getting a piece of the cake. I wish there was a freeware or open source alternative to IZ3D but unfortunately there isn't. SO unfortunately the best tip to get a good support for more exotic 3D modes is still IZ3D. My buddy originally just had a HDD image like before he installed IZ3D so he could easily get another 30 days trial for IZ3D but in the end he just bought it and shelled out the 50 bucks. |
