I'm wondering why no-one has posted here. I've hunted high and low for a list of games that work with stereo 3d, and can't find one. Here seems an ideal place to start, so please post your results so we know what to expect before purchasing a game. I use eDimensional glasses with 61.77 nVidia drivers and a GeForce FX5700LE. I was going to get a 6600GT and no stereo 3D hardware but more on that choice later. Using an nVidia card is quite an important part. Previously I had to use the ATI drivers and hardly any games worked. The ONE that did had problems. - - - - - - Games that work well with my setup are: Unreal Tounament 2004 - 9/10 Unfortunately loses a point for the crosshair at wrong depth, slightly tricky sniping and no hardware-crosshair support, besides that. Wow, and more wow, gorgeous stuff. No other problems have I've found. My first ever 'proper' 3d gaming experience, this will surely hold a special place on my harddrive for years to come. Half Life 2 - 5/10 Ooh.. Big dissapointment. Some bits look fine, the water is very nice, but then... yuk... faux 3d which shows up nasty against the real 3d. Such as the ceiling critters that try to suck you up fer dinner. They have a texture around where they're stuck to the ceiling that is at monitor screen depth. Strange artifacts, half visible bits and bobs. And, one I can't really work out is no matter how much I turned up the depth (and it did work - the depth did increase) the scene still looked very flat. I think it might be to do with the way textures were applied to objects to make them look like they've more polygons than they have. I dunno. Anyway, the result is uninspiring. I know it wasn't written with this viewing method in mind, but perhaps it could've been if stereo 3d had a bit more push from the big players. Painkiller - 9.5/10 This game in stereo 3D must surely be the way it's meant to be played. I bet the guys who developed it play it like this, and if they didn't, they sure did miss out on there own work. The only thing that's stopping a 10/10 is the fact that the player weapon is far too near, and for comfortable viewing it's best to switch it off - which fortunately you can with a simple checkbox in the options. If there was one game I've played which would convert the world to *proper* 3D viewing it's this one. I cannot convey my sheer flabberghastedness at the experience, in fact sod this reviewing I'm off to play it again. - - - - - I'll write more reviews of other games if you want but please do the same. Nothing dissapoints me more than a 3D title only working in boring flat pseudo 3D mode and not in all it's gloriousness. I hope you can let me know of games I'm missing out on. No online reviews seem to cater for the stereo 3D users out here, so maybe we can help each other out? Perhaps a better format would be a voting system? - - - - - 2 weeks ago I was in two minds whether to buy a good graphics card, or an older one and some 3d specs. I knew nothing about stereovision specs apart from the old anaglyph ones I played with as a child. I stumbled across some reviews of eD 3D glasses. Now I'm no fanboy, there's probably good alternatives out there, I just happened upon this company. The reviews seemed full of hype and sales pitch, but I took a chance and bought them. When I used them at first I was very dissapointed. Only one game would work out of my whole collection (UT2004). But it was such a great experience that I was STILL HAPPY I'd bought them. Even though I believed (and still do to some extent) that I'd been conned. Using the ATI drivers sucks big time, and is something they just don't tell you. If you're stuck with them, you'd have to do some research on whether any of the games you own would work with them. As UT2004 is the only working comparison I have, the sniping with the ATI drivers was impossible, and near-headache inducing. However, when I upgraded to a compatable nVidia card (6600 series at present has no offical stereo drivers) I was stunned. Absolutely stunned. I traded frames per second for a whole dimension. I'm sure I made the right choice. I cannot believe that running my games smoother would have an impact on my gaming experience that compares remotely with this. Well. There we go. I've joined the legion of gushing reviewers of this amazingly overlooked technology, that stereo3D virgins will read and say 'hmm.. sounds like crap' like I did. Like sex, those of us that have tried it (don't worry juniors, your time will err.. come), enjoy it immensely, can't believe they never did it sooner, and just want more! |

Thx again unclebob. Don't know how my searches never came accross this one. Oh and that view-tracking headwear looks pretty good. Shame there's only 60 degrees vertical pitch though. For alot of gaming it'd be nice to have full 360 like the horizontal. I imagine that sudden barrier would be quite distracting when you forget that you can't just look up. Still. Looks good. |

Half Life 2 is excellent! man, that got me hooked on 3D all over again.. but it helps to turn off the HUD in the console. otherwise when you adjust the convergence the hud is all screwy.. of course the way I'm adjusting it might be wrong. What I do is walk as close as I can to something like a fence or wall..enable 3D mode without glasses on.. and adjust converge until both images of the wall or fence overlap. That way it makes the wall appear flush with the monitor and everything beyond looks inside the monitor. The effect is awesome IMO but menus and HUD are all wacked out... Why can't game devs design HUDs and stuff with the proper Z-depth? grrr... |

In an X3d package they bundle 15 games, most of which are quite lousy. Couple of exceptions, silly little game, but quite enjoyable to those who like arcade style games, were one called Axysnake. Since part of a 3d package, obviously the creator of the game paid attention to 3d details, so it is a nice little game. One boring afternoon I followed the internet link to Axysoft, the company who produced Axysnake and found a few other games, free shareware style download. With todays download speed....why not. So got a game called AirXonix. Along the line of the old arcade game Xonix, the author made a spectacular 3d game out of it. Entertaining, good music, just the right balance between easy and difficult (besides having several levels of settable difficulty). I didn't hesitate a moment and paid the 15 bucks it costs to have the full game. Currently I am addicted to AirXonix, especially I used to love the old arcade games, now in good 3d, it is really enjoyable. |

so, I downloaded these registry keys for HL2, but the target site is showing double, the rest of the 3d looks good: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D] "StereoSeparation"=dword:3ddf213d [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs\hl2] "StereoConvergence"=dword:3F80032B "AutoConvergence"=dword:00000000 "FrustumAdjustMode"=dword:00000000 "LaserSight"=dword:00000001 "LaserXAdjust"=dword:3f800000 "LaserYAdjust"=dword:3f800000 "Time"=dword:00000000 the other 2 .reg from the site caused more divergence, any suggestions? bigpat |

I just tried the Call of Duty 2 demo with eD glasses and it was really cool. the cross hairs are the same as in most games, but you dont really need to aim that well in single player. |
