A withe shower curtain(IKEA), works wonders to a fraction of what a normal screen costs. Sure, I compared the results to an ordinary screen and the colors were little more washed out but not that much actually. It cost me 5 dollars(in sweden) a normal BPS costs I guess at least 500 dollars. |

Thank you Jesper! It's nice to find this. How far from the screen do you sit? Waht is the size of the screen (diagonal)? It would be nice sit at 1 m... |

Hi hornet, sorry I haven't got back to you have been so busy. I haven't set up all the things yet. So I haven't really started to fly condor yet. Been experimenting with the screen, distance, shape and so on. But I'll be there soon. Darkblue, right now I'm sitting 70cm from the screen and the diagonal is 110 cm. I'm not sure if this is my final setup but for the moment it feels ok. I might make it bigger. The things to have in mind is: Don't sit too close, not very comfortable for your eyes. To close also will effect the resolution which will have a negative impact on the realism since everything will be to grainy. Unless you have a super high def. projector. If you're not living in a big house you might think about how much room you will have to set up your things and then take it from there. It's always gonna be the issue: Smaller picture=higher resolution. Bigger picture=lower resolution. So it's really of matter of taste both has its pros and cons, you have to find out what you like. For me image quality is very important otherwise I feel I will loose the "reality" |

Jesper: In Ikea there are two different white shower curtains, one is 100% polyester (10 euros here) and the other is some kind of plastic (5 euros). For the price you say, I guess is the plastic one. Could you confirm please? Maybe do you know the name of the Ikea article? The polyester one is more like a kind of textil, the cheaper one is raw plastic. |

Hi, yes plastic is the way to go otherwise you'll let to much light through, which is bad since then you'll see the proj. |

Ok, when I read this topic, I run to the nearest Ikea store... Wow, there was the Saxan curtain! Euro 3,50... A lot of coloros available, but white... So i bought the palest color available. This is the package: http://www.lastereoscopica.it/riservato/saxan/immagini/saxan01.jpg and the back: http://www.lastereoscopica.it/riservato/saxan/immagini/saxan02.jpg Is it the right item? His name is Saxan, but it has NO pvc inside... ??? Ok, let's open it: http://www.lastereoscopica.it/riservato/saxan/immagini/saxan03.jpg how will I remove all these foldings? Let'see later... Now, let me test this new kind of screen. A very simple test: the curtain between two polarizer. If it will not depolarize the light, it will be not visible... http://www.lastereoscopica.it/riservato/saxan/immagini/saxan04.jpg http://www.lastereoscopica.it/riservato/saxan/immagini/saxan05.jpg oh, oh... It seems it will NOT WORK... I rotated the fabric, I reversed the fabric... no changes... Now, where is my error? Wrong curtain? But this is Saxan... Please, help... Thanks & ciao. Franco |

I'm afraid that Jesper uses it for 'active' stereo, i.e. with shutter glasses, and your are looking to use it as passive stereo with polarized filters and glasses...This shower curtain depolarizes the light. AFAIK, if someone want to confirm... |

Oh, oh... You are right: nobody speaks about polarized light... Thank you, Miguel, for the (BAD) info... Ok, the research of a nondepolarizing surface starts again... |

Hey, thank you! As you stated, the ultra silvergoo is for FRONT projection, but at the bottom of the page there is a "Rear Projection" paint... I think it should be tested... (ahem... $ 230/liter...) Ciao! Franco |
