We tested the Optoma HD72i and found that it would work at 60Hz (for time-sequential stereoscopic 3D video) but not at any higher frequencies. More info here: www.3d.curtin.edu.au (another paper with additional information on 3D compatible DLP projectors will be presented at SD&A 2007). |

Hello, thank you Andrew for this excellent test, and thank you Kesh for raising this question!! I was planning on getting a h72 but I want it to achieve 85Hz stereo in 1024*768 My understanding is that the failed 85hz test was run at native resolution...Could it work at 85Hz in 1024*768 through Powerstip?? |

I did not try 1024x768 @ 85Hz into the HD72i, but unfortunately I doubt it will work since the synchronisation problem is not with the rescaling chip, but with the DLP engine. |

Thanks for the answer... I'm wondering though, as powerstrip would bypass the rescaling (since it's meant to force a resolution and refresh rate)it would reduce the data flow: I thought that if the dlp chip had less data (forced 1024*768) to process, it might be able to synchronize...or am I completely wrong? Hey, if anybody out there has a h72 (lucky you)would you be so kind as to try it??? Thanks in advance... |

Powerstrip doesn't bypass the rescaling. Powerstrip forces the graphics card to output a video signal of your specifications. If you send a video signal to the projector which doesn't correspond to the projector's native resolution, it has to be rescaled. In my understanding this happens in a video reformatter chip, prior to the DLP engine, so that the DLP engine only deals with the native resolution of the projector. |

My mistake then... I guess I'll have to hunt for a 1024*768 dlp ;-)) |
