Guys, i recently got a Samsung "3D Ready" Plasma which i use with my ED "wireless" glasses in conjunction with PW's "StereoPlayer" as well as the tridef drivers for playing games. My confusion is in regards to the ED wireless glasses i use. I have pretty bad ghosting on the set, and i dont know whether i need special "DLP suitable" shutter glasses (IOD/Samsung)...and i dont know whether with IOD (or the new samsung) glasses the ghosting would be gone or not. ED told me that the current glasses i use would not work with 3D ready TVs..but they defintly work, except the ghosting. My question now: 1) Is the ghosting i have inherent to Plasmas and does maybe not appear on DLP sets? 2) Does anyone have the Tridef/IOD glasses and can compare them to the ED wireless glasses using a PLASMA (or DLP)...and is the result the same with any of those glasses? 3) Is there a (hardware-)difference between "3D Ready DLP suitable glasses" and "normal" LCD shutter glasses (like the Ed wireless) - EXCEPT the software maybe bundled (checkerboard support)....which i dont need since i already have all drivers? I just want to avoid spending money on "new" DLP/Plasma suitable shutters just to see that the result(ghosting) is the same... Georg. (Message edited by flexy123 on May 27, 2008) |

Hi Georg - I've been using the E-D wireless glasses with my Samsung 3D-ready DLP HDTV for quite a while. They work perfectly. But I've had ghosting in the past with the E-D shutter glasses when the batteries were low. Just a thought. |

3d ready PLASMA???? Are you sure it's plasma??? My understanding is that the DLP glasses are needed because the remote control for those TVs messes with the IR reception on the glasses, but I don't know that it would cause ghosting. I DO notice, however, that ONE of my four pairs of DLP 3D glasses ghosts badly while the other three do not (I have a Samsung 3D-ready DLP TV)...I am hoping it's the batteries, but haven't gotten around to testing that out yet. interesting. Well..i found out now that there are "basically" two common style of glasses, thats the ED style "roundish" ones...and the "elsa revelator" style...which look more square-shaped. i see that the "official" glasses (as tridef has in its 3d starter pack) look suspiciously *exactly* like elsa revelators! Yes, i do have a "3d ready" Plasma...and one of the Ed style glasses and *somewhat* ghosting. I just bought a wireless set of original Elsa relevators for 20 off ebay....will see how they do with my Plasma. |
