Hi,

I am new to the forum and wanted to set up an own small 3D-cinema at home. I encountered some problems where you can help me maybe.
My Dad just bought a new MP-622 DLP-Projector from BenQ a couple of weeks ago and i wanted to set up a private 3D-cinema with my old ELSA-REVELATOR IR-Shutterglasses and the appropriate 3D-Stereo-Drivers from NVIDIA. Unfortunately i encountered some problems with the vertical refresh-rate and have already contacted benQ technical support by email and phone without any further hints that might solve the problem. Maybe you can help me with this issue. Whenever i run the stereo-driver at 60Hz frequency the image is being flipped every 1/60 second such that i have 30Hz per eye. This works well in combination with the shutterglasses, there are no distortions or unregular flicker. The only disturbing thing is that the 30Hz per eye are hurting after some time. But technically it works. Now comes the problem: I wanted to run the stereo-driver at 85Hz to increase the refresh-rate, but when i do this the two images (one for left and one for right eye) seem to be displayed in an unregular manner. One could observe this with the bare eye without wearing the glasses right on the projection screen. It is a very unregular flicker and looks like some kind of sequential interference. This is confusing me as the manual for the projector says that the vertical frequency can be up to 85Hz. So what i did is: I set the output frequency of the graphics card to 85Hz, the stereo-frequency in NVIDIA-TAB too. When i run the test-image, the projector sets its own vga-mode to resolution X 85Hz by itself which is displayed on the osd, so it in fact detects that the signal is 85Hz. But the image that is being displayed flickers in a quite unregular manner. At the same time the shutterglasses have the correct frequency (85Hz) and dont flicker unregularly. I am unsure what to do now and where the problem might be. Could it be that the projector accepts signals with up to 85Hz, but internally subsamples the refresh-rate to just 60Hz and so also displays the image with only 60Hz. I could not find any details about this anywhere. When i try to run Stereo at 70Hz, 72Hz or 75Hz i have the same results as mentioned above
(always with a different kind of unregular flicker), at this time it only works with 60Hz which is unbearable. Another thing that makes me confused is: If the internal frequency would be fixed to 60Hz why then is there a limit to the input-frequency of 85Hz? When i tried to run stereo at 100Hz for example the projectors osd said "out of range". Would it be a problem to subsample from a higher rate than 85Hz to 60Hz, for example from 100Hz or 120Hz? I hope you can help me solve this thing as i want to find out what the reason for this is and want to watch 3D with a higher refresh-rate than 60Hz.

Greets, Simon

hey,
not sure exactly if i can help ya but is your Projector model listed on Andrew Woods compatible S3D projectors...?
http://www.3dmovielist.com/projectors.html
it looks like your model should indeed work, not actually listed in there but ver 621 seems to be there and working at 85hz.

Wat driver setup are you using?
Thats all i can say to ya,

hope it works out for ya,

Cheers,
Shono

Hi
I think the problem is in type of projector :-(
No all Benq projectors are "3D compatible". Some new are no useable - the reason is system of picture processing, ev. color wheel speed. From benq good are PB6240 (have 2pcs),MP720,721.No projector with resolution greater than 1024x768 is 3D compatible with more than 60 Hz refresh.
Sorry.
Peter
PS:see the "positivliste" of 3D compatible projectors:
