Hi all, I appreciate the advice I was given on my prior matter and now I have new one I like some assistance with. Seems to me that one could use two high resolution CRT desktop monitors, Fresnel lens, and eye pieces to create the interface and view of the perfect HMD just with no chance of wearing the thing (you would have the sit and look into eye pieces). While thinking of all this it dawned on me that I have never seen or heard an explanation/example for the role of the optics in an HMD. So in other words we all know that the images you see in an HMD are little screens but you are not just straight looking at a screen, there are optics involved to create the view of a large/wider screen, extend the focal plane outward, and create a wider FOV than just looking at the LCD. Does anybody know a site or information source that could shed some light on this? I would like to try two monitors, with Fresnel lens, but have the interface (optics) come down into two eyepieces that you then look through so each eye get its own monitor. Thanks for any tips, tricks, or tales of personal experience you can give! -Josh K. |
