Has anyone tried 3D stereo rendering on the emagin Z800 3Dvisor? We are trying to use openGl + visual studio (C/C++) to do the same. We'v installed the recommended Nvidia graphics driver (graphics card: GEForce4 MX 440), 3D stereo driver, eMagin SDK and Nvidia CG toolkit. With this setup, we tried a few GLUT/3D stereo examples (downloaded from http://www.gali-3d.com/archive/articles/StereoOpenGL/StereoscopicOpenGLTutorial.p hp), we couldnt see any difference in the stereo rendering - between the monitor and the visor projections. We are wondering if: - Are these the correct set of examples to try 3D stereo? - Have we installed everything that is needed to talk openGL to the visor.? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks, Preethi & Helmut |

preethi: I am the author of the example on this link. The probelm is clear: GEForce4 MX 440 graphic card does not support OpenGL stereoscopy ! So the applciations from the link works in 2D only. You must use a Quadro card and switch on OpenGL stereoscopy in the drivers setup (under enhanced mode of quality setting) .... The game drivers working with GeForces are suitabel only for games and not for OpenGL application if you want to have steresocopy under total control. You must DISABLE the game drivers if you want to work with the profesiona OpenGL stereo modes. Generaly the exampels are perfectly suitable for what you do - if you want to write a stereoscopic application, with in window stereo support and with full controel about all stereo effects and geometry. |
