Using two displays + vertical mirror is probably the highest quality method for doing stereo. (Alignment has to be tuned, but everything else such as brightness, color, flicker, resolution are perfect) However, the shortcoming is that you have to glue your face within a two-inch region. A lot more flexibility could be gained if the eyes were set wider apart. (You can sit further away or move your head further side-to-side.) Would it be an effective idea to accomplish this by using periscope glasses? Would looking at real-world objects in them cause headaches, or just produce an odd hyper-stereo effect? Would there be issues with alignment? Anyone know if such things are commercially available? | ||

Hi I'm interested in this setup (dual LCD and mirror) and have read the setup page of the professor but still has some questions . Since you sound like you already have this setup working . Do you have any advice for a setup with the following hardware (will this setup works in stereogaming ?) : 1- 2 24" Dell LCD flatpanel 2- Nvidia 7900GS 3- Intel Dual core Also, do you mind sharing what kind of mirror stand do you have ? I'm looking for a ready to use with some assembly kinda stand/holder and very interested if you could point to an off the shelf mirror stand that works for this setup . Thanks much | ||

actually... no, i don't have such a setup. Still, your hardware will work, although the huge widescreen panels might be difficult to arrange. you might need quite a large mirror. sorry, don't know anything about stands. You might have to go to home depot and buy some wood and nails. If you engineer carefully, you probably can go without anything else except the most basic saw. Or just go to home depot and ask for their opinion. I'd be surprised if you found something readymade, however. Especially of the size you need. |
