Hi, I am trying to build up a VR system. The choice was on a headmounted display like the nVisor SX plus an nVidia Quadro FX 4500 graphic card. Does anybody have experience with any of these, or have suggestions about alternatives? Sorry about the newbie question, but how useful will the quad-buffering support of the nVidia Quadro 4500 be for the programming of the applications? |

I received the workstation a few weeks ago. I had decided to go for two nVidia 8800 GTXs on an SLI-enabled motherboard. Hope I did not make a mistake here!! |

Sorry to break the news, but I don't believe nvidia has released stereo drivers for the 8800 yet. I am also planning on getting dual SLI 8800's but I'm waiting to hear about stereo support. Nvidia is however working on an updated driver (it might even be out by now), but AFAIK, the dx10 drivers (for the 8800) don't support stereo 3d. That is not to say that the cards won't support stereo if you are programming an application specifically to support it, but I don't believe there is any stereo support out-of-box. |
