Does anyone have experience with using LCD shutter glasses for Stereo 3D on Samsung's new line of HLT DLP TVs? http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/dlptv/index.asp If it works well it would be much higher resolution (1920x1080 vs 1024x768) and much lower cost than the InFocus®DepthQ® 3D Video Projector, (http://www.depthq.com/projector.html). The depthq.com link says that they use "DLP® technology from Texas Instruments". At www.dlp.com Texas Instruments says that Samsung uses their technology. At the Samsung link provided above you can click on a link for "3D Information" that says: ---------start of quote-------- 3d HD ready. The HLT generation of Samsung DLP® HDTVs are capable of displaying future 3D games, movies and other programming via 3D compatible glasses and hardware. I have tried using the NuVision 60x goggles on the HL-t4675S at bestbuy and they don't work. There's an option in the menu called 3D gaming but it is grayed out/unavailble. when I called samsung and spoke with a "level 2" support person he said samsung will be releasing proprietary glasses soon for $800. I spoke with him a little more and determined he was ill-informed. I called back two days later and got him again. I too am keenly interested in this possibility, but I haven't heard of anyone using it yet. | ||

Keep in mind the Samsung DLP TV does not work in stereo in HDTV resolution. In stereo mode the resoution is reduced to 1/2. | ||

A little more information is available at: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Berlind/?p=635 The "required" software comes from: http://3dtv.at The info on Zdnet says you can purchase the 3D kit for $100, but the only place I can see to buy it is at: http://www.berezin.com/3d/ for $200. Husakm, It uses the same technology as the Infocus project. It seems that it does not use interlaced, but instead uses page flipping. Therefore it gives you the full vertical resolution, not 1/2. guys, some potential exciting news. the 3d effect in samsung DLP seems nice but I never bought one because the DSLP is rear projection (NOT FLAT) and I think many, including myself want a flat panel. Anyway, I hear that SAMSUNG LCD TV LE40N87 may also support 3d now, and its flat and full hd. It's strange that there is so little information about it, maybe because its new but on a site I saw that this model has a "gaming mode for impressive 3d images". I can't even find the model number on Samsungs site though, even though they have started selling it! lol... | ||

I have been very happy with my purchase. Not only do i have the very best in comsumer 3d, i also have a 1080P display to watch the world series on. I think you will be pleased. Software support is getting better every week and right now they have the HL-T 5076 on ebay for 1300 clams. Cheaper than most projectors on the market! Regarding the comments on "flat", if you mean slim hang on the wall type tv, then i think you might be waiting a while for something that is that thin and 3d. Off to a little Battlefield 2142 (in 3D of course)... Cheers! | ||

I'm really struggling getting hold of one of these TVs. I live in the UK and they're not available here. I've spoken to Samsung UK and they say that there will be no "3D Ready" DLP TVs marketed in the UK for quite some time (not sure why but it's really annoying!). I'm trying to find someone to import one from the States. It's probably going to cost a fortune, but still much less than a DepthQ, which is now looking somewhat obsolete! I'd be grateful if anyone knows of UK or EU dealers that have these in stock. In the meantime I'll have to stick with my trusty old X1a at 85hz, flicker an' all! | ||

Hi all interested in 3D DLP technology. Yes, these screens are truly astonishing. We sell them in the UK and now have distribution in Europe. I have one of these (HLT5687S) and have been fairly happy with it, 3D and 2D, even though I haven't popped for HDTV programming yet. The 3D is great, but the setup was somewhat of a major hassle (getting the right video card, installing it, updating it, getting the Tri-Def software up and running properly, etc., etc., etc.). Then my first emitter went bad the second time I used it--would only let me see 3D if I was about 4 feet from the emitter! The vendor fixed that right away. NOW, I just discovered that one of my glasses exhibits ghosting to a really annoying extent, while the other pair looks great....I have two additional pair I haven't tried out for comparison. Also, keep in mind you need the special DLP glasses for these TVs because the IR remote for the TV interferes with the glasses emitter signal (supposedly, although one person still suggests getting a standard emitter and glasses hooked up to the computer instead of connected the DLP emitter to the port on the TV). But when the stars are aligned just right, the 3D is great with virtually no ghosting, especially with the commercial HQFS disks. | ||

Hello, those DLP 3D "Ready" TVs seem like the most feasable and useful of all the different ways to implement 3D for the average "consumer". I was looking around in Germany and had to read that those Samsung DLPs are only sold in USA. There is a german importer "vidim...." which wants a ridiculous fantasy price for those TVs imported from the states, running at 110AC using a transformer and (of course!) only using NTSC TV standard. As a reason for Samsung not selling those TVs in EU on the web site i read the very ridiculous statment "...Samsung doesnt sell/market those TVs here because of the 'smaller houses and smaller living rooms' outside the usa" Myself having lived 8+ years in the states myself this is an utterly ridiculous statement....HDTV and big screens is a VERY BIG market here and the statement about not making and selling those TVs here according to EU TV standard because of "smaller living rooms" is just (excuse me) utter nonsense. The above site wants 5k (Euro!!) for the 50" version, respective 6K for 60" and...7k for 70", yes EURO. <---- much luck selling those, guys. Seeing a big potential in this technology bringing 3D to the masses i really, really wonder and ask whether any company is actually plannign to bring this 3D technology to EU. I also read on a blog that Samsung introduced new PLASMA models using 3Ds at the IFA here a few months ago. add: according to amazon.com the HLT6187S is $1900, making it equivalent to approx EU1200. Now add customs and shipping...i think that 2K EU should defintly get you one of those imported right from the states. (Plus the hassle of setting them up using a transformer of course) This just as a side note to the 6000EU == $9600 this german site vidi(censored).de wants for the same TV  Assuming that those TV's 3D actually works (why is it actually called "3D ready" ? So..is it only "ready" or does it actually work? EU 2K for such a TV, assuming you can connect it to your PC/HDMI and DVD players (i dont care for TV anyway makes this a very, very attractive and serious 3D set-up. | ||

Edit, and an apology: I just found out that Samsung's brandnew and latest Plasma using "3D Ready" is actually available already here in Germany. it's the Samsung Series 470, specifically Samsung PS50A476. (The bigger ones out of this series are supposedly not "3D Ready" (?)..as of now i can only confirm "3D Ready" for the 50" TV PS50A476. Those units are literally brand-new, available since May 1st. MSRP is EU1800, but i see them already for EU1300 and actually *in stock* !! Combine this with the available extra 3D shutter glasses (or those by edimension, should word also)...and you get a unbeatable "near IMAX" experience right in your living room. I am in the market for a big screen TV anyway...and now reading that those feature 2x60hz "flickerless" 3D makes me drool, literally. G. (Message edited by flexy123 on May 07, 2008) | ||

I have the E-demensional wireless setup that I used to use with my Infocus projector. I haven't done stereoscopic for a while due to several reasons. I have the 50" HL50A650 and an 8800GT in my Newegg shopping cart ready to hit the buy button. Can I use my E-demensional emitter and glasses? Also I noticed Nvidia just came out with some new stereo drivers. Will these work whit this TV? John | ||

Be careful with the new nvidia stereo 3d drivers. They only work with the Zalman Trimon monitor currently (and only Vista 32-bit at that). But the old nvidia drivers have no 8800 support, be sure read all the fine print! If you can live without the nvidia 3d drivers, then you can use the TriDef 3d drivers with that Samsung (but with a limited number of supported games). Do more reading before you buy anything, and be sure you are getting compatible equipment. | ||

Has anyone used the new 120HZ Flat panel Televisions with 3D shutterglasses? I've heard that Samsung made a television with a specific 3D option, but they have some sort of software they use I'm hoping to find out if anyone has tried it on any other brand yet. | ||

Yes I tried the Samsung and wasn't to impressed. you are limited to bulky glasses and limited vewing angles. They need to make them to use circular polarized glasses which to me is the best 3d and light glasses.Unfortunatly Samsung and Mitsibishi are trying to dominate the 3d consumer market with no regard to the ease of use or other technology available. | ||
