I've got a Visette 2 HMD, and I am wondering if anyone has tried to update the LCD screens to a higher resolution? I mean the optics on the Visette have a huge field of view that I would like to use it over my other HMD which is a i-Visor FX601 (800x600 but 40 degree FOV). Any thoughts about opening up the Visette and replacing the LCD's with some alternative LCD/OLED that are the same size. Would that work? Thanks, Peter |

Just pulled out the existing video module from the Visette with each eye having its own LCD and backlight. Anyone know the wiring? Is it possible to display NTSC or PAL on the screens? 5 Wires: RED BLACK YELLOW GREEN BLUEISH GREY Thanks, Peter |

Hi Peter, I can't answer your question so far, but I like your idea. So may I ask you about the size of the Visette - LCDs? What display-size do they have? Maybe a photo could help further understanding? BTW - is the 640x480 resolution over 60° that bad? Cheers Walter |

Visette 2 uses 1.5" diagonal Epson LCDs which are no longer in production. These LCDs require proprietary driving electronics chips which also are out of production. I believe that Peter was asking because he didn't have the supporting electronics for these LCDs. Look in the "For Sale" section of this site. I've got a complete and working Visette 2 Pro system up for sale on Ebay. http://www.worldwide3d.com/ |

Hi Tony, thanks for precise information. Maybe you know, if there is a source for affordable, about 2" sized TFT or LCOS display (say between 1,5" and 2,8") with a resolution at least 800x600, preferably higher? |
