By now, many of North America's 3D stereo afficianados have seen SHARK BOY. The first 5 minutes look quite good in color and for 3D. The later (main body of the 3D) is dreary at best. I think we have a classic case of "The Emperor's Clothes" going on between Rodriguez and his many digital sub-contractors. The glasses certainly suck on several levels. The frames are way too small for big kids and adults. The filters suffer from cancelling too well! How can I say that? The reason being that some cross-over of red into the cyan is best. Otherwise, the retinal rivalry goes through the roof! We are selling a new type of Anachrome plastic glasses without diopter correction and slightly biased toward blue in the right eye. This gives better cancelling without screwing up the skin tones. The skin tones on the SHARK BOY cast in 3D is almost as yellow/green as SHREK...Tisk...Tisk! |
