I'm shamelessly plugging an item I'm selling on Ebay (mid-August 2005), but only because it is such a rare find for a rare customer. Basically, it is two JVC Gy-dv500u's, a blackburst generator, a full size beam splitter with adjustable convergence and separation designed for 35mm movie cameras, and a television pedestal and head. The dv500u's are full production mini-DV cameras with sync inputs, capable of adjusting their individual timing reactions to the input sync signal. This means the cameras can be set for exactly the same timing for polarized projection and anaglyphs, or alternating timing for shutter glasses. The rarest item of this package, the true gem, is the beam splitter. I bought it several years ago on Ebay myself. The cameras shoot at right angles, the right one straight through the mirror, and the left off of it. The mirror pivots toe-ing in the left camera. Separation adjustments are available to both cameras. Because the beamsplitter base and camera mount is so heavy (100 lbs. with the cameras), it is necessary to mount the whole rig onto something. The ITE TV head pans and tilts, but raises with difficulty under such weight. Its pedestal rolls smoothly and comes with spare wheels and treads. The 3-D is fantastic! I just finished shooting a feature-lengthed project titled "Painted Room" (still in post-production, hopefully showing next year) with this setup and hate to sell it, but we're sending my wife to nursing school and money is thin. I'll have more details and pictures as I start my no reserve-priced listing this week mid-August, 2005. I think $4000 will be a good starting price. My Ebay user name is REBleu Productions. Check it out. |

Its up and running. The auction runs till August 19, 2005. The Ebay item number is 7537529684. A friend and semi-professional Ebay seller told me I'm blowing it by not listing the components of this package separately, and that I could get a much higher price by splitting it up. I probably shouldn't say this, but if the auction doesn't sell, then I'll split it all up and resell it. Its just that I hope this goes to someone who will use it. That would make me happiest. |
