The upcoming Polar Express DVD, even the 2 disc version, is NOT listed as having any form of 3D. Does anyone know if a 3D version of any kind will be marketed later anywhere in the world? My guess is it won't be until after IMAX versions of the 3D stop playing for the holidays, but I would like to get something more authorititative. |

Warner Home Video owns the distribution rights to all versions of "Polar Express," including the 3-D version shown in IMAX theaters. Warner Brothers has never released stereoscopic DVDs of its old 3-D movies because it considers the 3-D market much too small to be profitable, and this policy is unlikely to change. I'm sure that IMAX would like to release a 3-D DVD of its version of "Polar Express," but this would have to be authorized by Warner Brothers. If this authorization is ever granted, it won't be until long after Warner Brothers is sure that IMAX's 3-D DVD would not compete with Warners' own 2-D version about to be released for the 2005 holidays. (So don't hold your breath.) |
