Just curious - has anyone looked at the various versions of Kiss Me Kate released on home video through the years? I know of at least three times it's been mastered for the US market. I'm wondering if the film, or parts of it, were transferred at different points from left and right prints. Would it be worth playing around with on the Mac?

I think it would be worth a shot, I'm pretty sure that this is how the "It Came from OuterSpace" and "Creature from the Black Lagoon" field sequential discs that are available on ebay were made (someone please correct if I am wrong) I have recently been studying this and Kiss Me Kate would be a prime candidate for investigation (because of multiple releases on vhs, dvd and laserdisc) other good candidates might be:
Amityville 3-D, Casper "Boo Moon" (I believe Boo Moon is Public Domain and it has been released many times on vhs, dvd and even laserdisc) Gun Fury, Miss Sadie Thompson (now available on dvd in the U.K.!) House of Wax might even be a good candidate, I know I would love to see a good copy without subtitles cluttering up the picture. And if anyone reading this is doubtful, I recently made a major discovery comparing flat releases of 3-D movies, so it does happen. I think if we can find a way to pool our resources, that we can see some of these movies restored to their 3-D glory.
Peace ~~~~~ Ryan

Here is a link with a direct comparison of a scene from Kiss Me Kate. It compares the 1998 laserdisc to the 1st version of the dvd which was recalled (there is another link discussing the recall as well) hope this helps!
