I can't believe no-one else appears to have posted this yet, but Superman returns is being screened in London at the IMAX, with several parts in 3D! At least one site refers to it as 'dimensionalised' which is a term we've heard on these boards before, but I would have thought that there's so much CGI in it that parts could be genuinely rendered in stereo: http://www.boingboing.net/2006/03/30/parts_of_superman_re.html Has anyone (with a trained eye) been to see it yet? If so, what did you think? |

I've read that it was 'dimensionalised' too, but I think the writer didn't know the difference; the stereo sequences are fully CGI rendered. To the general pubic, including writers, anything done to the film makes it 'dimensionalised'. One other explaination for the discrepencies is it may have flat characters pasted onto CGI backgrounds. I have not yet seen it in IMAX 3D. I do not know how much of the film is 3D. |

Didn't see it in 3D, but read about 20 minutes is 3D. Clark takes off his glasses, you put yours on....something to that effect. (Message edited by Ladude on August 19, 2006) |

If anybody cares... The 3d effect was great, in the last sequence you can absolutely see that the flat live action actor was pasted into the full 3d backgroud, but for the casual viewer it would've been unoticible... The first sequence is absolutely fantastic, I don't know how they did it, but even the live actor has dimension!!! Gorgeous really. Not only that, the 3d sequences actually add to the movie, in the first sequence for example, when Clark is remembering his youth, you feel that sense of intimacy with the character, which is helped a lot by the "3D factor"... In one of the action sequences I actually found myself at the edge of my seat, it was very intense!! If you are a 3D fan, go see it, you won't be disapointed!! |

I wish they had shown it in 3D at RealD theaters as well. |
