Hello all,
With help from this board (Much thanks Scott!) I was able to make the anaglyph conversion from my nuview lens with only my mac software. Now I'm stuck - Trying to find the right compression when uploading to the YouTube site. I've tried a number of different settings (14 different ones so far) and it ALWAYS looks the same, blurry and chunky. Does ANYONE have the secret recipe (or at least some suggestions) on how to make this work???? I posted screenshots of the before/after footage at:

Many many thanks! You guys rock!

They mention at YouTube that the best compression format is mp4....check out their help pages for specifics on screen size, etc.

Unfortunately the anaglyph video posted on YouTube now (thursteast3) is using those exact settings. I know there are flaws in the original footage but the compression is killing it. Maybe I should look into other video hosting services.......

Corky,
The thing is, you've got 2 things working against you: Anaglyph works because of chroma differences. YouTube (and other consumer VOD providers) works because of their great compression--particularly in the area of chroma (4-8x more compressed than luma/sharpness).

One thing you can do is to NOT compress your source. Send the huge whopping DV file to YouTube (assuming it's still under their size limit and they're OK with that filetype, etc.), and let THEM do the compression. At least then, you'll only have 1 generation of compression subsequent to creating your anaglyph.

Good luck,
Scott

Anaglyph video on YouTube is challenging. Even though they will be poor quality, there might be a few things that can help a bit:
