Wondering if anyone can tell me how Creature ends? I have a field-sequential copy, and was in a conversation with someone who thinks the field-sequential copy floating around (i think from 3d tv corp originally) has a flawed ending...It does end strangely, with a bunch of stills from the earlier part of the movie, and then two swimmers underwater swimming toward the camera. Is this not how it really ended, or did someone paste in the slideshow thing to cover up a missing ending? The copy I have runs about 86 minutes, and IMDB has it down at only 79 minutes...which confuses things further...I don't have a 2D print to compare to the 3D one I have. Thanks! |

I saw Creature in 3D in the theatre (Polarized, Univ. of Texas, c. ~1983) and it doesn't have any "stills" at the ending, so something must be screwed up somewhere. Don't actually remember how it ends though... IIRC, girl is saved, but creature either dies (gothic like Kong), or gets away (to come back in a remake). Scott |

In my field-sequential copy, the creature gets a harpoon, and sinks to the bottom of the lagoon, but then the stills kick in, and then they cut back to the harpooning swimmers swimming toward the camera and it ends... |

In the original "Creature from the Black Lagoon" the creature isn't harpooned at all during the ending. It's shot with rifle fire several times after it comes out of the water and attacks Richard Carlson, but then is allowed to stagger back into the lagoon, where it sinks to the bottom and presumably dies. (The 86-minute field-sequential 3-D DVD that I have shows this correct ending. You evidently have a botched version.) I haven't seen the sequel "Revenge of the Creature," so I don't know how that one ends. |

No stills. Somebody sold you a faulty copy of the movie. |

Eureka! I do have the full movie...there was a bonus 'stills' gallery thing tacked onto the end of the main movie after the credits roll...when I fast forwarded to the end of the DVD, I bypassed the real ending and ended up looking at this stills thing and thought THAT was how the movie ended. Thanks for everyone's help! |
