I wonder which codec was used and if the video suffers from ghosting through the codec. I'm cautious as these all look very homemade. For example Polar Express was releases as a stereoscopic 3D version, but in anaglyph on BluRay. So as the official website or wikipedia dont mention this it's very probably that someone just converted anaglyph to side-by-side. Same for the other 2 movies, while i think Bob the blob is just a short that was some advertising spin-off for Monsters vs. Aliens, without googling any further i claim this ain't a full feature length movie. On the one side i like that people make such 3D conversions available, but if it's 40 bucks for 3 burned DVDs this is already going towards rip-off piracy. Before i sink 40 bucks here I'd like to see some samples of the movie encoded with the "best codec, but we don't say which one". |

Would feel better if they at least posted a short sample to make sure there's no ghosting. |

I got Bob HD as a test from him yesterday and can't see any ghosting. Looks great. Perhaps he should include screen shots though. |

but if it's 40 bucks for 3 burned DVDs this is already going towards rip-off piracy actually, it's not 40 bucks for 3 burned DVDs. It's 40 bucks for HOURS AND HOUR AND HOURS of TEDIOUS work plus many other costs (hard drives, etc.). (Message edited by rrrrob on December 17, 2009) |

I did not say it's not much work, but most of it is only done once. Some people who do this just make a torrent of it, others buy a DVD copy station and sell them commercially. Who am I to judge these people. For some people 40 Dollars might be what they earn per minute, but for some its still an ammount they wouldn't just dump blindly. And i don't even wanna go into the moralic disaster of knowing you bought some bootleg DVD that did not feed a chinese family for a week... Imho some small 1 minute clips would be better advertisement than just a price tag. I'd also wonder if i could get these through customs anyways, they are terribly after bootleg/piracy/counterfeit stuff and always find everything suspicious. Maybe a download at reduced rates would be an alternate (Just torrented a few gig of movies, but wouldn't mind rapidshare or so). |

most of the people I know that do these conversions OFTEN find themselves doing some of them over again because they have learned something new that will improve on a project that was done previously. Some people that put torrents out there are taking other peoples' conversions and uploading them to the torrent networks (or worse, selling them as if they were there own conversions). But yes, $40 is no small fee, but it's not unreasonable either considering the huge amount of labor that goes into them (when they are done well, that is). a few titles have french tracks...coraline, polar express, bobs big break/shrek, but only the field-sequential versions...the HD above/below and other formats only have english. periodically, the site is on lockdown as I work on it--changes coming soon. Hi Rob, Thankx for the answers. For info, your releases are much appreciated on a french forum I'm interested in your HD releases but I'll wait for the french version if whenever you plan to make it. I read that your releases are almost ghost-free. I watched some 3D DVDs and some small 3D trailers or home-made 3D videos and ghosting can be very very present or almost absent. Can you explain what parameters can increase ghosting please? I think that the video encoding is very important when it comes to 3D and high contrast or fast moving scenes have to be avoided. Ouais |

Ah, also, I guess that a side by side (or 2 separated files) is better than interlaced format. Ouais |

Hi Ouais: There are a variety of things that can cause ghosting: 1.) Encoding method. Some software can introduce ghosting. I know that Nero software is notoriously bad for introducing ghosting that isn't present in the source video. 2.) Monitors: old CRT televisions always introduce some ghosting, even if both right/left video streams are completely clean. This has to do with the refresh/kill rate of phosphers used in those types of monitors. 3.) Separation between right/left streams...if the streams are very far apart, your brain may have a hard time converging elements on the screen. 4.) right/left streams came from converted anaglph sources. It is pretty much impossible to get completely clean/separated left/right streams from anaglyph source. However, when done right, the ghosting is very much minimized. 5.) I have a pair of wireless DLP glasses that seems to introduce ghosting more than the other 3 pair I bought around the same time. I don't understand why, but there must be a calibration issue with some glasses. I am sure others here can contribute causes as well...Number 1 and Number 4 above are the biggest culprits, though. |
